Bengaluru, Dec 6: A 35-year-old software engineer, who set himself ablaze in the course of an argument with the owner of a tutorial institute, has died of burn injuries.

Ritesh Kumar, a resident of Lal Bhadur Shastri Nagar in HAL, doused himself with petrol and struck a match. The flames engulfed him. He worked for a company in Marathahalli, and lived with his wife Parul, son Dharsh and daughter Vidhi.

He had handed Rs. 2.5 lakh to Aditya Bajaj, owner of Aditya Tutorials in JP Nagar, seeking admission for his son at a school. Bajaj neither provided the child a seat nor returned the money. Frustrated, Ritesh carried a bottle of petrol to Aditya Tutorials on November 30. He died in hospital next day.

Bajaj, 35, who suffered burns trying to save the engineer, is recovering in the same hospital. "We've registered a case of abetment to suicide and cheating against Bajaj," deputy commissioner of police (south) SD Sharanappa said. "I've asked JP Nagar police to find out if Aditya has cheated other parents too."

Police said the boy's parents were keen on admitting him into a prestigious school. Earlier this year, they contacted Bajaj, who runs Aditya Tutorials in JP Nagar. He promised them a seat. Kumar paid Bajaj Rs 2.5 lakh, but he reneged on his promise. The boy is now in Class I at a school near the family's residence.

Police said Kumar began pressuring Bajaj to return his money. Bajaj returned Rs 1.25 lakh and sought time to return the rest. But Parul said in her complaint: "Aditya Bajaj told us he won't return our money even if we died before him. My husband called me at 8.10pm on November 30 and said he is going to meet Aditya. I was informed about his suicide attempt at 11pm. He died the next day."

Police said Kumar was earning Rs 15 lakh per annum. "We are investigating whether he was trying to only threaten Aditya," police said.

Really sad, Our Indian Educatuion is reached to another Level. Some people sit on road to get Application form in St.Joseph College Banaglore. I dont understand why parents take so much pain.  I would request parents to think practically, about such schools & Colleges.  These institutions are not worth where they make education as business. Your kid can create wonders in other schools & colleges. Now Education beacame as business, our teachers told us " I have knowledge & i want to share without anything in return".

New Delhi, Feb 29: The arsonists, who were allegedly hired by the pro-CAA politicians in Delhi to unleash violence against Muslims, did not even spare the residence of Border Security Force personnel Mohammed Anees.

While the jawan, who has spent three years guarding the borders along Jammu and Kashmir, had hoped that his job profile mentioned on the nameplate hung outside their two-storey house would discourage the vandals, he was proved wrong.

The nameplate on house number 76 in Khas Khajuri Gali clearly mentioned it was the property of a security force personnel who protects India’s borders from foreign invasions. Yet, it was burned down on the afternoon of February 25.

First, the ruthless goons set the vehicles parked outside the jawan’s house on fire, then they torched his home. Stones were also pelted at his house amid slogans of “idhar aa Pakistani, tujhe naagarikta dete hai” (Come here Pakistani, get your citizenship).

Apart from Anees, his father Mohammed Moonis, 55, uncle Mohd Ahmed, 59, and 18-year-old cousin Niha Parveen were in the house. Sensing what was about to go down next, they all escaped from the house, and were helped by paramilitary troops.

Charred remains of the house now stand where the house was till three days ago. In the two lanes of Khajuri Khas near Anees’s house, 35 houses were set on fire.

The loss suffered by the BSF soldier’s family was perhaps greater as they had kept all their life’s savings inside: two weddings in the family were to take place in the next three months.

Niha Parveen was to get married in April and Anees himself was to get married the following month. “All the things we collected all our life, jewellery – two gold necklaces, silver jewellery, it is all gone,” the family said.

“We used to buy jewellery on instalments… used to give money every month and collected this jewellery,” they said. Rs 3 lakh in cash for the wedding arrangements also got burnt along with other valuables and all their belongings.

Khajuri Khas is a Hindu-majority area, but Anees’s family says no neighbour of theirs was involved in the attack. “People came from outside.” Instead, their Hindu neighbours were asking the rioters to leave. They requested them to leave and helped douse the vehicles on fire.

Mangalore, Jun 3: One man was arrested by the Crime Branch of city police from Mangalore for allegedly having links with gangster Ravi Pujari, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Patil said on Wednesday.

According to the police, the man identified as Ghulam has been sent to 10-day police custody.

"During the investigation of a case related to Ravi Pujari, it was found that one Ghulam is a close associate of Pujari and had helped him in extortion and other illegal activity. Ghulam was arrested from Mangalore. He was produced before a court and sent to 10-day police custody," Patil said.

The senior police officer said that further investigation is on in the matter.

Pujari, who was wanted in several cases including ones related to heinous crimes like murder and extortion, was brought to Bengaluru earlier this year from Senegal. He had reportedly gone underground two decades ago and had allegedly been carrying out illegal activities from abroad.
