Mangaluru, Dec 13: A group of miscreants thrashed a Muslim boy after he was found speaking to a girl belonging to another community in the city on Wednesday.

The boy and the girl, said to be friends, were speaking near State Bank Circle when a group followed them. On suspecting the motive of the group, the boy asked the girl to run away.

The group then caught hold of the boy and threatened him against speaking to the girl. They also allegedly thrashed him.

Though the boy claimed that they were colleagues working in a mall, the members did not let go of him. On learning about the incident, Mangaluru South Police rushed to the spot, sources said.

Inspector K U Belliappa said that, "When the boy and the girl were conversing, a group, claiming to be the girl's family, arrived and began interrogating the youth. The police rushed to the spot. It is not known whether the group belongs to any organisation," he said.

Why such type goondagiri is taking place in karnatka.  Why police are soft on the terror group who are behind such gundagiri.   why are they not allowing people to live in peace.  Police should trace the culprits from nearby  cctv and arrest under goonda act.   such miscreants need to be punished to teach lesson to their colleagues.   In the meantime, why these youngersters are doing unneessary things and put themselves in truble.  Talking to a girl from another community is a crime nowadays and sangh parivar members have the right to beat anyone talking to girl from different community.  These miscreants have blessings from bjp.   Situation may go out of contral in case Police do not contral these goondas from doing immoral policegiri.

Udupi, Jun 4: Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakhar on Wednesday said that he will take up an issue before a high-powered committee on COVID-19 to find out the possibility of imposing lockdown on a particular house of the person infected with the virus instead of sealing down of entire areas.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday after reviewing the district's prevailing COVID situation, the minister said the concept and modalities of declaring any area as containment zone has undergone changes in the last two months.

"Hitherto, we were declaring the entire area as the containment zone after detection of coronavirus positive cases. Subsequently, the area of the containment zone was decreased from the whole area to a particular street," the Minister said.

"Now, BJP MLA Raghupati Bhat has given a suggestion to seal down a particular house of the positive patient which would be taken up before the high-powered panel. The district administration concerned could supply all essential items to the particular family," he said.

He further said that the Union government has been providing all facilities to all the states to deal with the situation."

Bengaluru, Jan 10: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the murder case of journalist-activist Gauri, arrested absconding suspect Rushikesh Devdikar alias Murali (44) from Dhanbad district in Jharkhand on Thursday evening and is bringing him to the city.

Rushikesh is the 18th suspect arrested in the case, Chief Investigating Officer M N Anucheth said. The investigation has revealed that he was primarily involved in the conspiracy to murder Gauri.

Rushikesh, who was hiding in a house in Katras, Dhanbad, will be produced before the local Judicial Magistrate in Dhanbad on Friday, said Anucheth, adding that the SIT had searched his house for clues. "We will obtain a transit warrant from the court and then bring him to Bengaluru," the officer said.

Originally from Aurangabad in Maharashtra, Rushikesh's family still lives there.
