Bengaluru, Feb 26: Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi has approved the Pradesh Election Committee for the upcoming Karnataka elections.

Following are the members of the Committee:

G Parameshwara, Siddaramaiah, Mallikarjun Kharge, D K Shivakumar, S R Patil, Dinesh Gundurao, Oscar Fernandes, M Veerappa Moily, B K Hariprasad, K H Muniyappa, Margaret Alva, Allum Veerabhadrappa, R V Deshpande, K Rehman Khan, H K Patil, K J George, Ramalinga Reddy, Ramanath Rai, H C Mahadevappa, M B Patil, M Krishnappa, B L Shankar, C M Ibrahim, Motamma, Satish Jarkiholi, Rani Satish, C S Nadagouda, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Krishna Byre Gowda, S S Mallikarjun, Santosh S Lad, P T Parameshwar Naik, Shivaraj Tangadagi, Umashree, R Roshan Baig, Ambareesh, K B Krishna Murthy, Saleem Ahmed, Narasinga Rao Suryavanshi, Basavanagouda Badarli, Lakshmi Ravindra Hebbalkar, Manjunatha H S and Pyareijan.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal, AICC secretaries in-charge of the state and all MPs from Karnataka are also in the Pradesh Election Committee, according to a press release issued by the AICC here on Sunday.

Bengaluru, May 11: Ten new positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Karnataka, taking the total number of infections in the state to 858, the Health department said on Monday.

"Ten new positive cases have been reported from last evening to this noon... Till date 858 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed. This includes 31 deaths and 422 discharges," the department said in its mid-day situation update. 

The ten new cases include- three from Davangere, two each from Bidar and Bagalkote, one each from Kalaburagi, Shiggavi in Haveri and Vijayapura. Seven cases are men, three are women.

While most cases are contacts of patients already tested positive, one each are with travel history to Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

One person's contact tracing is underway.

Bengaluru, Mar 14: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Saturday suspended its proposed Akil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) meeting scheduled to be held in the outskirts of the city, in the wake of the outbreak of Coronavirus in the state.

'In view of the seriousness of the pandemic COVID-19 and in the light of instructions and advisories thereof issues by the Union and the state governments, the Akil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha meeting scheduled in Bengaluru has been suspended', Sarakaryavah Suresh Joshi tweeted.

All Swayamsevaks should cooperate with the administrations to create awareness among the public and to face this successfully, he said.

It may be recalled that Karnataka State Government had ordered shut down of pubs, malls, theatres, and ban mass gatherings over the Coronavirus scare, on Friday.

Mangaluru, Jun 24: An elderly woman who was tested positive for coronavirus yesterday, breathed her last at the designated covid hospital in the city today. 

The deceased 57-year-old woman from Ullal. Her final rites were held as per the guidelines issued by the district administration. 

According to sources, she was admitted to a private hospital in Thokkottu due to diarrhoea. She was treated in that hospital for eight days. 

Meanwhile, her throat swabs were sent for covid test. She received positive report yesterday. Hence she was shifted to covid hospital where she breathed her last without responding to treatment.
