Dammam: ‘Pragati’ commemorates Jamiyyatul Falah’s 30 years of selfless service

Dammam: Jamiyyatul Falah’s much-awaited documentary ‘Pragati: A Step towards Progress’ was officially released on March 2, at Hotel Novotel in Dammam. The glittering evening under the banner of ‘JF Donor Meet’ marked its 30th glorious years of dedication and commitment at twin districts of coastal Karnataka.

Founded in 1988 by Mohammed Iqbal Yousuf, in undivided Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, Jamiyyatul Falah (unity for success) has progressed into a well-established association led by the initiative to empower the overall community by making education as well as healthcare more accessible to the poor and needy. The association targeting the under-served population has gained major reputation within the community after having successfully gained ground in DK and Udupi districts of coastal Karnataka.

It was an extravaganza par excellence event intended to gather Jam’iyyatul Falah’s potential Donors, Well-wishers and sponsors together for their unconditional support extended to expand the activities of Jamiyyatul Falah to reach the downtrodden families.

The event commenced with Qirath by Mohammad Mubeen and he enlightened on importance of charity to the audience and immediately followed the welcome speech by Nizamuddin Shaikh president of JF Dammam Unit. The master of ceremony Mansour Ali Ahmed gave a brief introduction of Jamiyyatul Falah from its inception till JF’s current affairs to have a concise glimpse to make the audience comfortable to recall JF activities while watching the documentary.

The dazzling twilight was graced by a number of distinguished guests from all walks of life and embellished the evening with their courteous presence.

The chief guest of the event Mohammad Akhtar Shaikh, JF NRCC Ameer and Nizamuddin Shaikh together released the JF Documentary officially and was played for the audience. The 30 minutes documentary has displayed 30 years of dedication and commitment and it’sbeen lauded with huge applaud by all the distinguished guests.

Praise and applauses were non-stop by the audience and they acclaimed the documentary as well scripted and it was meticulously picturized by showing the ground reality of the downtrodden families and their uplifting by providing education, healthcare, awareness and empowerment.

Most of the audience were so much overwhelmed and got inspired by the activities of Jam’iyyatul Falah and pledged to start the charitable organization at their region to help and uplift the downtrodden.

Jamiyyatul Falah is also literally known as ‘Mother of all Organizations’ for its excellent work in developing a better community and inspiring every individuals and organizations in the twin-districts of coastal Karnataka.

All the prominent guests of the evening enjoyed the traditional and scrumptious dinner of Indian cuisine and each guest was presented the complimentary bag with a copy of JF documentary. Ameen Shaik, General Secretary of JF Dammam Unit, proposed the vote of thanks and the event ended with the prayer.

Celebrating 30th Glorious Year is not an easy task for any charitable organization. Your achievement is always an inspiration to every individual and hats off to all the JF Executive Members for activities well executed and benefited the most in our community back-home. May Allah bless JF to succeed year after year - Aameen. I saw JF Documentary Film in Riyadh JF's Family-Get-Together and its wonderfully pictured and well displayed the activities of JF. Its really a masterpiece documentary and everyone should watch this. Very inspirational. - Masha Allah.

Bengaluru, May 9: Dubai NRI Kannadigaru president and entrepreneur Naveed Magundi in a video message thanked government of India for helping stranded Indians in Arab countries to return home. 

The video was shared by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan on Friday on Twitter. 

"Kannadigas, who are in trouble in the Arab countries and wanting to return home, have got the central government's rapid response. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gratitude video on behalf of Dubai President Kannadigas," Narayan said in the tweet.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has prepared a chart for the first phase evacuation of over 14,000 Indian nationals stranded in 13 foreign countries by 64 flights in week one of the operation.

Mangaluru, Jan 23: The Muslim Central Committee of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi and Humanity Forum of Mangaluru today handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the aggrieved family of Naushin, who was killed in arbitrary police firing on December 19 in the city.

A team of philanthropists led by Muslim Central Committee chairman K S Mohammad Masood visited Shaheed Nausheen’s house at Kudroli and handed over the cheque. Several philanthropists have contributed to this humanitarian aid.

Corporator Shamsuddin Kudroli, S M Rasheed Haji, Mansoor Ahmed Azad, Ibrahim Kodichal, Haneef Haji, Asif Deals and Ashraf Kinara were present among others.

Mangaluru, Apr 23: An astronomical phenomenon, ‘Zero Shadow Day', will be observed in Mangaluru on April 24 and in Udupi on April 25. 

According to a press release from Poornaprajna Amateur Astronomers’ Club, the wonder will commence and people will see their shadows disappear for a few moments at 12:28 pm.

The phenomenon is called as Zero Shadow Day. If a person takes a candle in a dark room and use it to create a shadow of one’s palm on the wall, the hand will cast shadow on the wall as one moves the hand. But when one places the palm on the wall, there will be no shadow.

In the phenomenon, the sun at these times shines exactly above the heads on these days. In astronomy, this point is called as Zenith. The point in the sky directly above an observer at any given location. So it is quite clear now that on Zero Shadow Day, the sun passes through the Zenith as a result of which, all objects will have minimal or no shadow if they are on the ground.

The reason for this happens on some specific days is concerned with astronomy. The earth spins around on its own axis and causes days and nights. It also revolves around the sun causing a year. But the seasons are caused because the axis is tilted at an angle of 23.5 degrees. It is because of this tilt that the sun rises every day in the east gradually moving towards the north till June 21st and then slowly proceeding towards the south till December 21st every year. “We call these days solstice. This means the sun shines between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn every day passing by the equator on the days we call equinox,” the release stated.

As the earth moves around the sun and revolves on its own axis, for all the people between Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn, the Sun at noon moves father and closer to the zenith passing through zenith twice causing two Zero Shadow Days per year. People at Mangaluru will observe this on April 24 and August 18 every year and People in Udupi will observe this on April 25 and August 17 every year.

Places with same latitudes will observe the same days of Zero Shadow but the time would vary with longitude. For example, people of Bengaluru as they share the latitude with Mangaluru will also observe it on April 24. While the people of Mangaluru will observe their shadows disappear at 12.28pm, people of Bengaluru will observe this at 12:17pm. Places like Moodabidri, Bantwal, Sakleshpur and Hassan will also observe Zero Shadow on April 24.

Places like Brahmavar, Karkala, Sringeri, Kudremukha, Chikkamagaluru will observe the Zero Shadow Day on the same day as Udupi on April 25.
