Muscat: Hundreds of NRIs take part in 'Baandhavya 2018’

Muscat: Team Baandhavya, Muscat organized “Baandhavya” cultural program on March 16, 2018 at Barka farm house here. Nearly 1000 non-resident Indians participated in this program.

Team Baandhavya has been organizing a public program under the name 'Baandhavya' for non-resident Kannadigas for four consecutive years with different concepts.

This is a program combining of many non-resident families, including children, women, young people and seniors arranged with main attraction of rural style shops, food dishes, and childhood play.

Village Fair

Village fair was the main attraction of this event.  All non-resident Indians engaged in daily employment at the gulf state surprised by the sight of village fair atmosphere. Special glimpse of the family fusion program was petty shops, memorable materials of early childhood life, village dishes, omelets, tapioca, ice candies, gas soda drinks and vegetables were also available. All age groups were enjoyed by hot spicy snacks, native hotel dishes and chocolates as well as ice-cream.

The crowds gathered at specially arranged photo gallery; also were amazed for a moment at the specially prepared village post box for this event and stood beside it taking away the selfie.

Children’s curiosity

The event started with the children's games, whereby parents enthusiastically engaged with their kids as rarely arranged special rural sport competition in the backyard. They recalled childhood period playing with their friends during school days.  Similarly, women's games competition also organized by women's separately.  For ladies a flower stall with village flowers like jasmine, rose etc. arranged.

Honoring noted personalities

On this occasion, few noted personalities were honored for their service rendered to the society in different fields. They were, Yusuf Moodbidri, who trained her daughter for IAS exam, a rising poet and lyricist Ansar Katipalla, social activists Hafeez Panemangalore, Mohideen Padubidre and Jaffar Kalladka.

Cultural program

Crowds witnessed classical “Duff” and hilarious skit performed by the artists of team-baandhaya.

Stage program

On this occasion, the chief guest journalist Fayaz N addressed the gathering and appreciated the program as it has been successful in strengthening the relationship between nonresident Indians, such effort is required to extend beyond the ocean.  Further he said, back at home country, the secular nature remains unique, when relations between the all Indians become firm and solid. We are all responsible for saving the nation's secular legacy and defeating fascism he said.

Abdul Salam Thumbe, the director of Team-Baandhavya presided over the function. Indian Pravasi Forum, Karnataka Chapter in Oman’s President Mohammed Anwar, Vice President of Indian Social Forum, Karnatak Chapter Syed Mohdin Saheb Sastan were present on the occasion.  Team-Baandhavya adviser Riyaz Gangolli gave the welcome speech and Faizal Kalladka gave the thanksgiving speech. Program was compered by Zakariya Bappalige. The Pran Lichi Company and the Barik Group sponsored this program.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.

On the occasion of 71st Republic Day of India, Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF), Karnataka State organized a blood donation camp in Doha Qatar, in association with Hamad Medical Corporation on 31st January 2020, Friday.

At first, QISF Karnataka State Vice President, Ziaul Huq welcomed the guests, dignitaries and blood donors.

The Blood Donation Camp was inaugurated by ICC President Mr. Manikantan A P who was the Chief guest. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized that, Service to humanity is service to God. By donating the blood, not only we save the lives, but we get blessings also. He also said that punctuality is the key factor in these type of events and should be incorporated by all of us.

QISF Central Committee President, Sayeed Komachi highlighted the necessity and importance of donating the blood and assured QISF a socio cultural organization will always be ready for this noble cause.

Dr. Vishwantha Kini, a well known Radiologist in HMC motivated the donors.

The camp was started at    7.00 A M and ended at 5.30 PM in which 146 people donated the blood out of 185 people registered.

SKMWA President Abdul Majeed and Dr. Haroon from Asian Medical Centre, who were also the Guests in the programme praised the initiative and efforts of QISF. 

QISF Central Committee Vice President Salam Kunnamal, General Secretary Basheer Ahmed, Northern States President Fasiuddin, QISF State and Branch Committee members Lathif Madikeri, Zakariya Pandeshwar, Saleem Bangadi, Mujeebulla Khan, Nayeem Belapu, Ibrahim UB, Toufeeq, Anwar Angargundy, Rizwan Kalladka, Asif Bannur, Imtiyaz Karnad, Jaleel Kalladka, Haneef Montepadav, Rafiq Uppinangady and other members were present during the programme.

The program was presided and concluded by QISF Karnataka State President Nazeer Pasha.
