Mysuru, Mar 5: Deputy Commissioner and Mahamastakabhisheka Mahotsava Committee secretary Rohini Sindhuri has said that adopting new technologies helped in the huge success of the recently-concluded Bahubali Mahamastakabhisheka.

Speaking to reporters here, the DC said that 'Kalpamritha', an expo-cum-sale of coconut products that was opened to help farmers, received an overwhelming response with more than 50,000 people visiting it and products worth Rs 1.35 lakh being sold in 20 days.

Around eight lakh people witnessed the Mahamastakabhisheka using special glasses and mobile phone app. One lakh glasses have been distributed and around 20,000 glasses are kept at Shravanabelagola as tourists are still visiting the historical place. Adventure sports at Janivara Lake attracted many and Rs 7 lakh was collected, she said.

The DC lauded the services of Scouts and Guides, who worked day and night in keeping the premises clean, supplied drinking water and also helped the old to climb Vindhyagiri during the festival. Heli-tourism evoked a good response and around 3,000 people had a view of the town from the helicopter. The copter took out more than 500 trips collecting Rs 6 lakh.

The machines that were installed in 2006 to supply water from Hemavathy river to Shravanabelagola were replaced and 51 lakh litres of water supplied every day. Around 26,000 people benefited from this every day, she said.
