Bengaluru, Apr 19: Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Wednesday directed IGP (Eastern range) Sharat Chandra to conduct a probe into an incident wherein a truck hit Union Minister Anant kumar Hegde’s convoy in Haveri.
Hegde had claimed that it was a deliberate attempt on his life, while the BJP leaders demanded a thorough probe into the incident. State BJP general secretary Shobha Karandlaje claimed that it was an attempt by jihadi elements to kill the Union minister.
Mangaluru, June 20: A teenage boy lost his life after accidentally drowning in Netravati River at Boliyar village on the outskirts of the city yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Fazil (15), a resident of Nadupadavu village near Konaje.
According to his family sources, Fazil had been to work in a horticultural land along with his friends on Saturday afternoon.
On his way back he went to the river to wash his hands and legs. However, he lost his balance in the river and drowned, police sources said.
His body was retrieved at 2 p.m. A case was registered at jurisdictional Konaje police station.
Udupi, Jun 1: As many as 73 people have been tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district today.
The district has registered a total of 260 positive cases so far. Majority of the positive cases in Udupi district have inter-state travel history to Maharashtra.
Shivamogga, Feb 6: A youth, who allegedly uploaded pornography and inappropriate videos of children on social media, was arrested by the district CEN police after a tip-off from the CyberTipline.
The accused is a resident of Sorab taluk and is said to be below 18 years. He uploaded the objectionable content during April and May last year. He was traced based on the IP address of his computer and the mobile call records shared by the investigating agencies.
He was arrested in January under the provisions of the Information Technology Act 2000 and sent to judicial custody, said police sources.
