Bengaluru, Apr 19: Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Wednesday directed IGP (Eastern range) Sharat Chandra to conduct a probe into an incident wherein a truck hit Union Minister Anant kumar Hegde’s convoy in Haveri.
Hegde had claimed that it was a deliberate attempt on his life, while the BJP leaders demanded a thorough probe into the incident. State BJP general secretary Shobha Karandlaje claimed that it was an attempt by jihadi elements to kill the Union minister.
Mangaluru, Aug 3: As part of precautionary measures in the region during Bhoomi Pujan in Ayodhya, prohibitory orders under Section 144 will be imposed under the limits of Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate.
The Section 144 will be in force from 8 p.m. on Tuesday (August 4) to 6 a.m. on Thursday (August 6)
Sources said that the city police commissioner Vikash Kumar Vikash has taken this step following reports about possibility of protests in Mangaluru during Bhoomi Pujan.
The top cop has warned of stringent action against those who violate the prohibitory orders.
Bengaluru, Apr 10: The Karnataka Education Board on Friday further postponed the annual examination for SSLC to May due to extension of lockdown to arrest spread of coronavirus which is spreading like wildfire in the state.
Minister for Primary and Higher Education S Suresh Kumar also announced that the PUC examination were also postponed to May.
"However, depending upon the situation we will announce the date in May and will inform the students one week earlier of the examination date to give time for preparation,"
Belagavi, Feb 25: Left Parties will launch countrywide door-to-door campaign from March 1 to 23 against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), National Population Register (NPR), National Register of Citizens (NRC), Communist Party of India (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference here, he said that CPI (M) and other Left parties were participating in the awareness programme that will conclude on March 23, on the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekar and Rajguru.
"Till now 13 states have expressed their opposition for NRC and will not implement it, which means more than fifty per cent of country will not have it," he added.
