Bengaluru, Apr 19: Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Wednesday directed IGP (Eastern range) Sharat Chandra to conduct a probe into an incident wherein a truck hit Union Minister Anant kumar Hegde’s convoy in Haveri.
Hegde had claimed that it was a deliberate attempt on his life, while the BJP leaders demanded a thorough probe into the incident. State BJP general secretary Shobha Karandlaje claimed that it was an attempt by jihadi elements to kill the Union minister.
Bengaluru, Feb 17: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday assured that the Centre is committed to stand by its promise of providing Rs 18,600 crore Bengaluru suburban Rail project.
Addressing a press conference after a post-budget interactive session with the representatives of the various trade bodies, industry leaders and others here, she said that the union cabinet has already given its clearance for the long-pending project.
Informing that the central government will have 20 per cent of its capital share in the project followed by another 20 per cent share from the state government, she said "beside this, the union government will stand for a sovereign guarantee for the rest of the 60 percent share, which can be raised through loans from external agencies".
Mangaluru, July 30: Under the KKMA Dream House (Home for Homeless) project, the Karnataka Branch of Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association built two new houses at Nelyadi in Puttur taluk (house # 12 & 13) and handed over the keys on 29th July 2020 to the two widows as an Eid al-Adha gift for them.

Bengaluru, Apr 25: With 26 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours, the total number of positive cases in Karnataka reached 500 on Saturday.
This includes 158 patients who have been cured and discharged following treatment while 18 deaths have been reported so far due to the infection in the State, according to a media bulletin issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday evening.
A total of 324 COVID-19 cases are currently active in the State as of Saturday evening 5 pm.
According to the bulletin, Bengaluru Urban with 133 positive cases, including 49 discharged and four deaths, is the worst-affected district in the State, followed by Mysuru and Belagavi, with 89 and 54 confirmed cases, respectively.
