Mangaluru: Two held; 9.5kg ganja seized

Mangaluru, May 21: The City Crime Branch police on Saturday arrested two persons on the charge of attempting to sell ganja procured from Andhra Pradesh.

The police seized 9.5 kg ganja and two mobile phones from them. The seized materials were worth Rs. 2.3 lakh.

The police have given their names as Zunaid, 30, son of Abdul Rahman, of Sheshadripuram in Bengaluru and Abdul Kareem, 25, son of Ibrahim of Kudmar in Puttur.

They were allegedly trying to sell ganja to students and others in the city. They were arrested near Pumpwell.

Kareem is an accused in a case of dacoity registered in Bellare police station earlier, a release said.

Bengaluru, April 3: Central Crime Branch (CCB) Bengaluru has arrested two persons for allegedly possessing illicit liquor.

The probe team also allegedly seized bottles worth Rs 1.25 lakhs from their possession on Thursday.

A case has been registered against the accused and investigation into the matter is underway, Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police informed news agency.

More details in this regard are awaited.

Mandya, Jul 6: With a journalist from Srirangapatna testing positive for Covid-19, the Mandya District Journalists Association was sealed as a precautionary measure.

Association President K C Manjunath said on Monday that as the reporter has tested positive for Covid-19, it was voluntarily decided to seal down the premises for another month.
