Mangaluru, Jul 12: Communal tension prevailed for a while at Kalladka town of Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada last evening when a group of saffron chauvinists, claiming to be saviors of Hindutva laid siege to a house where two female medical students were put up.

According to sources, two Bengaluru bound female medical students – a Hindu and a Muslim – had come to latter’s relative’s house near Sri Rama High School at Kalladka. The duo had planned to board a Bengaluru-bound bus last night.

However, at around 7:30 p.m. a group of saffron activists, who came to know about the presence of a Hindu girl in a Muslim house, rushed to the spot and laid siege to the house.
They started raising provocative slogans against Muslims and accused the house occupants of attempting conversion of the Hindu girl.

The Bantwal Police led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Rishikesh Sonawane rushed to the spot and sent away the group and provided security to the girls, who left for Bengaluru finally.

i dont understand why people like Rakesh Shetty are so much worried about popularity of Islam.

if they can track who is visiting whom in the locality, I wonder why these goons didnt reach sister Bhavani's house, who died at Janavasati Colony in Puttur taluk’s Vidyapur , and not a single saviour of hindu religion came forward to cremate her.

i wish these goons help their own hindu Koraga families living in shambles in Kulshekar.

And hope the police exhibit same proactiveness to stop moral.policing, drug menace, rapes and control law and order in the district.

looks like police dept is only interested in supporting moral.policing and protecting cows

Non-sence statement given by One Mr. Rakesh Shetty. Why that one sided policy?  There are many cases of "Kesari Jihad" by the Saffronists in the recent days. Open your narrow-mindedness before you give such statement.

Bengaluru, May 29: The hotel industry is one of the worst-hit industries due to lockdown, along with the tourism industry. Bengaluru's hotel industry has incurred a loss of around Rs 1200 crore during the lockdown period however, the hotels here are likely to open in June if the State government issues guidelines for the resumption of their services.

Speaking to media, PC Rao, President, Bangalore Hotelier's Association said, "It's not only the loss of business, but we have lost the customer base as well.
We don't expect any good future for the next six months. There will be a slow down in the business even after opening."

"We have requested our CM to give first preference to the hotels. We are going to restart our business in June if granted permission. Around 10 per cent of the hotels cannot open at all. They are in the stage of merging or closing down position. Few hotels may open after five or six months," he added.

He continued saying that many hotels are for sale but there are no buyers. There are around 21,000 restaurants in Bangalore, 3500 hotels with rooms and restaurant which has an average turnover of Rs 20 crores per day, Rao informed.

"We expect losses of around Rs 1200 crores in these two months. We are giving special online training to all the hoteliers and to our managers particularly to deal with the COVID-19 situation, including how to deal with the guests, employees, how to start the hotel services.

Each and every manager has already been trained and we are still continuing it. We will conduct face to face meeting as well and brief the managers," said Rao.

Udupi, Jun 4: Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakhar on Wednesday said that he will take up an issue before a high-powered committee on COVID-19 to find out the possibility of imposing lockdown on a particular house of the person infected with the virus instead of sealing down of entire areas.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday after reviewing the district's prevailing COVID situation, the minister said the concept and modalities of declaring any area as containment zone has undergone changes in the last two months.

"Hitherto, we were declaring the entire area as the containment zone after detection of coronavirus positive cases. Subsequently, the area of the containment zone was decreased from the whole area to a particular street," the Minister said.

"Now, BJP MLA Raghupati Bhat has given a suggestion to seal down a particular house of the positive patient which would be taken up before the high-powered panel. The district administration concerned could supply all essential items to the particular family," he said.

He further said that the Union government has been providing all facilities to all the states to deal with the situation."
