Cops nab 12 for gambling after raid on flat; seize Rs 184 lakh

Bengaluru, Sept 11: Central Crime Branch (CCB) Special Investigation team of the city police have arrested 12 people who had indulged in illegally playing 'under bahar' card game and seized from them Rs 1.
84 lakh stake money.

Police said on Tuesday that the people arrested during a raid on a flat in posh HSBR Layout in the City on Monday night.
They were identified as Kiran, Jayakumar, Lokesh, Satish, Murali, Ajith, Sudhakar, Sampath Kumar, Muthu, Alok, Harish and Ram Prasad.

Banasavadi Police have registered a case and investigating.

Mangaluru, Mar 14: In a bid to prevent the coronavirus spread in the city, Mangaluru City Corporation on Saturday disallowed the street vendors to continue their business activities until further notice.

MCC Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde, in an order released today, warned that any vehicles, carts or trolleys that would be seen violating the order will be towed away.

The development comes in the wake of state wide ban on all shopping malls. In Mangaluru too all the malls remained shut today.

Mangaluru, May 4: Bunder Shramika Sangha (BSS) general secretary B K Imthiyaz on Monday urged the district administration to restart Bengre ferry and passenger boat services as it has affected the wholesale market in Old Port.

A majority of the labourers engaged in loading and unloading at the wholesale market in Old Bunder hail from Bengre area. Without the ferry service, the labourers cannot come to work, said Imthiyaz.

He said no positive cases had been reported from Bengre area. Thus, the district administration should give permission for operating ferry services between 7 am and 12 noon.

Mangaluru, Feb 14: Police have submitted over 50 videos in a pen drive to Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha as evidence to violent protests that led to police firing on December 19 in which Jaleel and Nausheen died.

ACP and police nodal officer Belliyappa submitted a pen drive consisting over 50 video clips including CCTV footage. 

The police earlier had submitted 20 digital video recorder (DVR) before the court and an acknowledgement of the same was produced before the Magistrate.

Hearing on video evidence will be held at High Court on February 24.
