Mumbai Model Allegedly Pushes Mother in Bathroom during Fight, Kills Her

Mumbai, Oct 7: A 23-year-old model was arrested for allegedly pushing his mother during a fight, leading to her death, police said Saturday.

Oshiwara police said that Lakshya Singh was arrested Friday in connection with the death of his mother Sunita Singh, 45.

The two, along with the accused's fiancee, stayed in a rented flat in Cross Gate building in Mumbai's Lokhandwala area.

The accused was produced in court on Saturday which sent him to police custody till October 8.

Initial investigations have revealed that mother and son were addicted to drugs, said Shailesh Pasalwad, senior inspector, Oshiwara Police Station.

"We will interrogate the accused today to ascertain what exactly led to the scuffle between them," he said.

According to another official, the accused has told the police that he had pushed his mother in the bathroom during a scuffle, possibly over finances, after consuming drugs Wednesday midnight.

Ms Singh hit her head on the wash basin and collapsed, while Lakshya locked the bathroom from outside, police said.

When Lakshya opened the door in the morning, he found his mother dead, police said.

Sunita, Lakshya, his fiancee and two domestic helps were present in the flat at the time of the incident, this official said.

Kozhikode, Jun 26: A man, who had returned from Bahrain on Thursday and has been under quarantine at his house in Villyapallai near here, has been stabbed on his arm by an unidentified person.

Police sources said the assailant, with a masked face, had ransacked the man's house by break-opening the door at midnight lat night and stabbed Lijeesh on his arm and fled from the scene.

The nearby residents took Lijeesh to a nearby hospital and was put back on quarantine.

Nagpur, July 21: In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old boy allegedly killed self in Maharashtra's Nagpur city after being reprimanded by his mother for buying a samosa, police said on Tuesday.

Veeru Natthu Sahu was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his home in Ganga Nagar in Gittikhadan area on Sunday night, an official said.

The deceased boy's family was struggling to make ends meet after their small business was hit because of the coronavirus-induced lockdown, he said.

The Class 7 student had taken Rs 10 from home without asking his mother and bought a samosa, which was then eaten by his elder brother, the official said.

The boy's mother scolded him for taking money without her permission and asked him to get the snack for himself, following which the distraught minor allegedly went into the kitchen and hanged himself using a saree, he said.

The Gittikhadan police have registered a case of accidental death in this regard, the official added.

Nagpur, Apr 5: A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Imambada area in Nagpur on Saturday due to financial distress, police said.

Nikhil Gavhane, who worked in a grocery shop, hanged himself as he had taken money from a person and was stressed over repayment, an official said.

"He was depressed since a week," the Imambada police station official said.
