Kasaragod, Jul 19: Students’ unrest and subsequent clashes between rival groups resulted in indefinite suspension of classes at C.H. Muhammed Koya Memorial Vocational Higher Secondary School at Kottapuram in Neeleswaram.

The unrest followed after a Plus One girl student was forced to sing a song by her classmates inside the classroom on Monday.

Infuriated over forcing his sister sing the song, the girl’s elder brother, studying in Plus Two, tried to barge into the classroom along with his classmates on Tuesday triggering commotion on the school premises, a senior officer of the Neeleswaram police station said here on Wednesday.

The situation got aggravated after a few teachers who tried to pacify the warring students group suffered minor injuries in the scuffle, the official said.

Following the students’ unrest, the classes were suspended for indefinite period from Tuesday.

Stating that the police have not received any formal complaint of ragging incident, the officer said that the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) has convened a meeting on Thursday to amicably sort out the issue that resulted in suspension of seven students from the school.

Goonda students who forced the girl to sing in the classroom should be barred from the school immediately.  I hope these students belong to certain group who are trying to create disharmony and trouble in the state.   Organisation supporting these goonda students should be banned.
