BJP can't repeat Assembly election results in Karnataka: Moily

Raipur, Nov 18: Former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily on Saturday claimed that would not be easy for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to get two third seats in Karnataka in the coming Parliamentary elections let alone repeat its performance in the Assembly polls held in May this year.

Talking to news agency, Moily said the BJP has almost lost its strength in Karnataka as the recent by-elections in the state showed. According to him, BJP at best may win two to three seats in the state.

In Kerala, the BJP despite its best efforts would not be able to open its account due to the strong coalition between Congress and communist parties, he said.

And given the strong alliance between Congress and DMK, BJP should not also hope for an entry in Tamil Nadu, Moily added.

He also sees no prospect for BJP in Telangana where the Congress, TDP and Communist Parties have formed an alliance.

Asked about a possible alliance between Congress and TDP in Andhra Pradesh, he said that it would be premature to say anything at this stage.

BJP is also in trouble in Goa, he said.

Moreover, the BJP is going to suffer in the North, claimed Moily.

Hailing the initiative of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu to forge an anti-BJP grand alliance, Moily said that Modi Government would not succeed in preventing opposition parties from uniting even after misusing CBI, ED and Income Tax Department against them.

Claiming that a strong wave is blowing in favour of Congress across the country, Moily said that BJP was losing its allies whereas Congress was gaining.

Charging Modi Government with ruining institutions, Moily said that CBI was undergoing a credibility crisis whereas ED and Income Tax Department were functioning under political pressure.

To a query over CBI, ED and Income Tax Department being pressed into action in Uttar Pradesh to queer the pitch for the SP-BSP alliance, he said that Congress would join this alliance irrespective of BJP’s attempts to prevent it. With this grand alliance in Uttar Pradesh, it would be difficult for BJP to win even five seats, he said.

He slammed Modi Government for demonetisation and GST and said that such measures had ruined the country’s economy. "Situation is worse in almost all sectors," he said, adding that the government was only doing "event management."

He also charged the government with trying to destroy autonomous structure of Reserve Bank of India and said that the situation worsened after "pro-RSS" S. Gurumurthy was inducted in the board of directors.

Moily said that people's mandate after assembly elections in five states would be an indication for ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

He claimed that strong anti-incumbency waves are blowing in against BJP governments in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana.

When asked about questions being raised time and again over the leadership of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Moily said: "Rahul Gandhi is a dynamic leader who is working hard to take the party forward and bring it to power."

About projection of Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidate in 2019 general election, he said that the decision as to who would be the Prime Minister rests on outcome.

This another politics jocker from South Kanara.Unfortunately good for nothing. Stop predicting if Mr.Moily having faith with our decomocracy and constitution then first throw out the dirty EVM system and ask election  commission to implement ballot voting system. Qualified Kannadigas will select wise and able candidate.

That's all presently the Nation requires.

New Delhi, Feb 24: India has deeply appreciated the Senegal government's decision to extradite fugitive gangster Ravi Poojary to India, official sources said on Sunday.

Facilitation of transit provided by the Government of France has also been acknowledged, they said.

Ravi Prakash Poojary, accused of committing a number of serious offences including murder and extortion in multiple jurisdictions, was extradited from Senegal on Saturday.

The probe agencies have persistently pursued the case for his extradition with the authorities in Senegal. India had made a request with Senegal for his extradition in early 2019, sources said.

Poojary was associated with gangster Chhota Rajan, but he also worked for fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Bengaluru, Jan 23: An alleged low-intensity blast on Wednesday late evening in Shanthinagar left three-time Congress MLA NA Harris and six others with burn injuries. The blast reported at around 8:30 pm during a cultural programme gripped the central parts of Bengaluru in a panic especially after the incident of police recovering a live bomb in Mangaluru airport.

According to sources in Shanthinagar, MLA Harris was attending the birthday celebrations of MGR organized by the locals close to his residence in Shanthinagar. Following the blast, Harris and a few others who standing close to the MLA sustained burn injuries and rushed to the nearby Philomena Hospital immediately and police officials from both the Ashok Nagar and Vivek Nagar visited the spot. The police officials are yet to confirm whether it was a bomb blast or due to the bursting of loud and powerful crackers.

Chethan Singh Rathore, DCP (Central) visited the hospital and the blast site. A team of forensic science lab experts have also been summoned to the spot to collect samples for ascertaining the nature of the blast. MLA Harris’s son Mohammed Nalapad who rushed to the hospital along with supporters told media persons that they are completely shocked by the incident.

“He was sitting on a chair and suddenly something that was hurled at him exploded beneath the chair. He sustained injuries to his leg and brought to the hospital. He is being treated by a team of doctors and other injured supporters are also being attended to by the doctors,” Nalapad said.

Expressing shock over the incident, he said, “My father has been an MLA for 12-years and nothing of this sort had happened before in the constituency. We have no rivals and my father never had any gunmen. We are all shocked and have complained to the jurisdictional police.”

Meantime, Dr Shankar Prasad, Medical Director, St Philomena’s Hospital explained that Harris and others are currently being treated for minor injuries. “None of them have any open cut injuries and they are being examined further,” Dr Prasad told DH.

According to Dr Prasad, Harris had a minor blood clot in his left leg which was possibly due to a hard object hitting him during the blast. “We have taken X-Ray and examining further. At the look of it, it seems like a very minor injury,” he added.

Bengaluru, Jul 2: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Thursday launched the ICU Telecard, developed by CISCO to address the concerns of doctors treating coronavirus patients.

Wi-Fi networks and Cisco Health platform help to protect the entire medical team dealing with the infected person by ensuring that doctors do not have to be inside isolation wards and COVID ICUs.

The ICU Telecard has been installed at Victoria and KC General hospital.

"This technology is a necessity to safeguard health of our doctors and it should be implemented in all hospitals. We will discuss about this in the task force meeting and decide regarding the use of this technology in all COVID hospitals in the state. For now, we have installed one at Victoria and KC General hospital" said the minister.

Addressing the complaints of non-release of dead bodies without coronavirus testing, Sriramulu said: "Experts have discussed the same in a meeting with the Chief Minister yesterday, who has ordered for an increase in the number of testing labs. This should resolve the issue. We are also contemplating the conduct of plasma therapy in all districts."

The minister said that the government has also decided to reserve two ambulances for every ward to address the issue of non-availability and will procure more ambulances on rent if the existing ones are insufficient.

He further informed that those who were seen dumping the bodies in a pit in Ballari have been suspended and notice has also been served to officials in Yadagiri.

"We will ensure such instances do not repeat in the state," he said.
