SDPI’s Ilyas Mohammad Thumbay files nomination papers from Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru, Mar 25: Ilyas Mohammad Thumbay, the Social Democratic Party of India candidate for Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency, filed his nomination papers today. 

The SDPI seized the opportunity to show its strength by holding a rally from Hampankatta to the office of Deputy Commissioner. Apart from leaders of the party, hundreds of workers also took part. 

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, who is also the returning officer, received the nomination papers. SDPI leaders Devanur Putnanjayya, Riyaz Farangipete, Akram Hasan and Ataullah Jokatte were present.

It could be recalled here that SDPI candidate (Haneef Khan Kodaje) had finished third in Dakshina Kannada in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Voting for SDPI is like voting for BJP.

So be smart and please vote for Congress  so muslim votes are not wasted.

We had enough of BJP for the past 10 years. for a better future for Muslims vote for Congress.

SDPI should take back thier nomination as there is a easy chance for BJP to sweep as congress and SDPI  votes will divide.. SDPI should re think as they do not have enough supporters

Tumakuru, Jul 12: A four-year-old boy was killed by a leopard at Rajendrapur hamlet at Hasige Hobli village near Huliyurdurga in Kunigal taluk.

Police said on Sunday that this was the third such attack by big cats in the district in a span of six months.

Forest officials said that the boy had gone with his mother to wash clothes at a tank and the animal attacked him while playing there on Saturday late evening. 

A passerby who witnessed the incident scared the animal, it escaped leaving the boy’s body behind.

Bengaluru, Jan 13: RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat on Monday held a protest march at Ramnagar district’s 
Kapalabetta under the aegis of Hindu Jagran Vedike’s ‘Kanakapura Chalo’ campaign against the construction of the world’s largest Jesus statue there.

Hundreds of protesters of the Vedike staged a protest march in the city starting from the Kanakapura Ayyappaswamy temple.

“We are not here to disturb the peace. We have met each other at the wedding of Sriramulu’s daughter. So you know who I am, DK Shivakumar. How long will you continue with these lies? Is the intention behind the statue of Jesus to solidify your vote bank? Build the statue in America or England, we will not allow it here,” said the RSS leader as the keynote speaker at the rally.

Mangaluru, May 15: Dakshina Kannada saw a record spike in the number of fresh COVID-19 cases today, which triggered panic among the people of the district, which is currently under orange zone.   

According to the mid-day bulletin of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, as many as 16 people from Dakshina Kannada tested positive for the covid-19. 

Among them 15 are the Gulf returnees who were brought by an Air India Express special flight from Dubai to Mangaluru International Airport on May 12. 

As many as 179 repatriates had landed at Mangaluru Airport. Among them 125 are quarantined in Dakshina Kannada, 49 in Udupi and five in Uttara Kannada districts.  

Meanwhile, a 68-year-old woman from Surathkal area in Mangaluru, who is suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) was also tested covid-19 positive.

This is the highest number of cases reported in a single day since first case registered in the district on March 22 when Dubai-bound youth from Bhatkal was tested positive. 

With this the total number of covid-19 cases in the district mounted to 50 including five deaths. Many of them have returned home after recovery.

3 members of a family test positive

According to Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, three members of a same family are among 15 gulf returnees who are tested positive.  They are a 45-year-old man, his 33-year-old wife and their 6-year-old child. 

Six among those who tested positive today are above 60 years of age, said the deputy commissioner.
