Mangaluru: Budding cartoonist, food blogger Nikhil Pai commits suicide

Magnaluru, Apr 14: In a shocking incident, city-based budding cartoonist and food blogger Nikhil Pai has allegedly committed under mysterious circumstances.

According to police, the 29-year-old ended his life by consuming poison. 

It is not yet clear what exactly persuaded the married man to resort to the extreme step. The police said he had gone out after quarrelling with his mother at home yesterday. When he did not return, his family filed a missing complaint on Sunday morning.

He was found dead in his apartment at Palemar on Sunday. The body was shifted to AJ Hospital and later handed over to family. The funeral was held at night.

He is survived by his mother, wife, and his younger sister.

Following his father's death two years ago, he had taken up the management of Deepak Sales and Services fuel pump at Baikampady.

An alumnus of St Aloysius College, Pai was a popular food blogger and one of the founders of ‘The Three Hungry Men’, said to be Mangaluru’s first and only food reviewing body.

He was an amateur cartoonist and used to contribute to coastaldigest.com. He was also a passionate traveler and visited many countries.

A case has been registered at jurisdictional Kavoor police station and investigations are on.

Alhamdullillah i may starve to dealth without food but can never think of doing this Shit..because there is clear mandate from Allah for those who commit suicide in my religion.

 

Thats the reason we see less suicide cases in our community.

Shivamogga, Feb 6: A youth, who allegedly uploaded pornography and inappropriate videos of children on social media, was arrested by the district CEN police after a tip-off from the CyberTipline.

The accused is a resident of Sorab taluk and is said to be below 18 years. He uploaded the objectionable content during April and May last year. He was traced based on the IP address of his computer and the mobile call records shared by the investigating agencies.

He was arrested in January under the provisions of the Information Technology Act 2000 and sent to judicial custody, said police sources.

Kundapur, Apr 28: The local police have arrested two people for threatening and preventing an Associated Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers from discharging their duties during the lockdown.

Police said on Tuesday that the arrested are Sandeep Mesta and Mahesh Kharvi.

According to official sources, the health officials had put Sandeep under quarantine for 28 days.

However, he was seen wandering in the streets and ASHA worker C Laxmi warned him to stay indoors.

Irked by the warning Sandeep, along with his friend Mahesh Kharvi waylaid her and threatened to kill for objecting his movement.

Bengaluru, May 22: The Karnataka government, which has fixed Rs 200 as fine for not wearing masks and covering faces to contain coronavirus spread, has collected Rs 3.43 lakh from 15,000 people as fine from May 5 till date.

"From May 5, the government has collected Rs 3,43,000 by fining 1,715 citizens for nor wearing masks or covering their faces," the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) Commissioner said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said the state has reached its target of scaling up to 10,000 tests per day by conducting 11,499 tests on Thursday. In Kalaburagi, where the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in the State, conducted over 1000 tests yesterday.

"By conducting 11,449 COVID-19 tests yesterday, we reached our target of scaling up to 10,000 tests per day Kalaburagi that saw the first COVID-19 case in the state conducted over 1000 tests yesterday," Sudhakar said.

As per the Union Health Ministry, Karnataka has 1,605 positive cases, of which 571 have been recovered and discharged and 41 have succumbed to the infection.
