Bengaluru, Jul 3: A 29-year-old married woman, who had a dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant, fell to death along with her 2-year-old son from the balcony of their seventh-floor flat in RT Nagar II Stage, off Ballari Road in the city yesterday.

Police suspect that A Bhavana, wife of Arihant, a manager with a private agency, jumped to her death at Shriram White House apartment, carrying her only child A Devant, with her.

A commerce graduate, Bhavana had cleared a few papers of chartered accountancy exam. “Her dream was to become a CA. She had planned to clear the exams after her son started attending school,” a family source said.

Married for four years, Bhavana was reportedly facing harassment from her husband and in-laws. Bhavana’s husband and his mother were in the flat when the incident took place.

“It’s not an accidental fall. They fell down from the balcony of their bedroom. A 3ft iron grill covers the open space in the balcony. The chances of it being an accident are bleak,” a police officer said.

DCP (North) N Shashikumar, quoting Bhavana’s two sisters, said Arihant harassed his wife for money. “He suspected her fidelity for no reason,” Shashikumar quoted the sisters as telling her.

very sad news.  By her look, deceased Bhavana is sure that she is very sincere, decent and noble.  Her face itself expresses her good being.  I am sorry that her husband and inmates were harassing her.  A strong case is required to be filed against them and should be in jail for not less than 10 years.  We are coming accross such cases time and again.  Govt shoud bring strict law and punish the responsible people.

The Legislator from Vijayanagara in Mine rich Ballari district said anyone can go through the Chargesheets and find out whether there are any direct charges against him. Bengaluru, Jul 21: A man was arrested on Tuesday for riding his high-end bike up to a speed of almost 300 km per hour on a flyover here during ongoing lockdown, police said. After a selfie video of the man's reckless ride went viral on social media, police arrested him for putting his life and that of others at risk and seized his 1000 CC bike.

Identified by police as Muniyappa, he rode his bike on the nearly 10-km long Electronic City flyover, accelerating almost to 300 KMPH as he whizzed past some vehicles, including cars autorickshaws and trucks that were moving in both directions.

"This video made viral by the rider...going at a dangerous speed of almost 300 kmph at Ecity flyover putting his own & others life at risk..CCB traced the rider & seized bike Yamaha 1000 CC.. handed over to traffic (police)," Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil tweeted, tagging the video.

A case of reckless driving has been registered against him, police said. They said the incident occurred during the week-long lockdown in force in the city and outskirts till Wednesday morning to contain the spread of coronavirus, leaving most roads deserted as people remained indoors. However, it was not known when exactly he undertook the ride. A fortnight ago, three youths who were doing wheelies on the city roads met with a ghastly mishap and lost their lives.

Mangaluru, May 6: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the government to consider erstwhile undivided Dakshina Kannada (now DK & Udupi) as one unit for the purpose of movement of people. KCCI president Isaac Vas has written a letter to Karnataka chief secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar in this regard.

Mr Vas said: Even though the erstwhile Dakshina Kannada district was bifurcated in 1997 for administration purposes, the two districts are actually an urban agglomeration with most of the population residing in suburbs/towns. Office Staff, technical crew and labour of many industries reside in either district and commute daily for work within an efficient transport system.

The present restriction on Inter-district movement in view of the Lockdown is hindering the kick starting of industries and commerce. Workers are deprived of their livelihood and Industry and business owners are finding it challenging to move forward. To add to this, the migrant labour is moving back to their native places further aggravating the situation. Many Industries and Commercial establishments have requested us to take up this matter with the government, he said.

“Hence, we kindly request you to consider these two districts as one geographical area for the movement of people and private vehicles,” he said adding that this would facilitate movement of people for employment and business in either districts of Dakshina Kannada & Udupi.

He pointed out that Bangalore Rural, Bangalore Urban, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapur and Kolar are considered as a single unit as per your order No. RD158/TNR 2020 dt 03/05/2020 (Clause 2(a)).
