Cong playing caste politics in Karnataka; BJP’s only agenda is development: PM Modi

Bengaluru, Apr 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today that development was his only agenda for the Karnataka Assembly polls, and accused the state's Congress government of stalling its progress.

Modi also accused the Congress of playing caste politics during elections.

"BJP has a three-pronged agenda for Karnataka-- development, fast-paced development, all-round development," he told BJP leaders, office bearers and party workers via video conference.

"Our agenda is vikas (development), vikas, vikas," he said.

Without naming the Lingayats, the prime minister accused the Congress government of doing caste politics.

"When elections come, they offer lollipops to a caste group so they get busy with it. But the BJP's priority is politics of development," he said.

The Siddaramaiah government recently recommended religious minority status for the Lingayat and its sub-group Veershaiva Lingayat community. The move is seen as an attempt to divide the Lingayats, the bedrock of the BJP's voter base in the state.

The Congress government in Karnataka, he alleged, was responsible for the tardy progress of the state.

With pre-poll surveys projecting a hung Assembly, Modi asked the voters to elect a BJP government with an absolute majority to give a fillip to development.

PM Modi is 100 percent correct in saying bjp agent is development, but he did not say whose development.   He kept this secret.  However, all of us know bjp is working for the development of its high rank officials, business tycoons like Ambani, Adani, Modi etc etc.   the only citizend gained from bjp are business tycoons and looters like Modi, Mallya, etc etc.   Also gainer is swiss bank.   Sab ka saath sab ka vikaas aur aam admi ka satyanaas

Bengaluru, Apr 28: Providing respite, Karnataka has decided to ‘conditionally’ allow economic activities to restart in green zones.

The green zones of Chamarajanagar, Koppal, Chikkamagaluru, Raichur, Chitradurga, Ramanagara, Hassan, Shivamogga, Haveri, Yadgir, Kolar, Davangere, Udupi and Kodagu will now see shops and industrial activities starting operations, according to an order issued by Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar on Tuesday.

Lockdown restrictions in the wake of COVID-19 will continue in Bengaluru Urban, Belagavi, Mysuru, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Kalaburagi, Bidar and Dakshina Kannada. Here, only essential services and supplies will be allowed.

In green zones, all shops that include neighbourhood shops, standalone shops, shops in residential complexes within the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities can open with 50 per cent manpower but with masks and social distancing mandatory.

Shops in residential and marketing complexes are allowed to open in areas located outside municipal limits, the order states.

Multi-brand and single-brand malls will remain shut across Karnataka.

Industries operating in rural areas of these green zones (except Ramanagara) have been allowed to start. Also, manufacturing and other industrial establishments with access control in special economic zones and export-oriented units, industrial estates and industrial townships will be allowed to operate.

“These establishments shall make arrangements for stay of workers within their premises as far as possible and/ or adjacent buildings. The transportation of workers to workplace shall be arranged by the employers in dedicated transport by ensuring social distancing (sic),” Bhaskar said in the order.

This order comes a day after Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa participated in a video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and with all deputy commissioners.

No decision on relaxing lockdown restrictions has been taken for Ballari, Mandya, Bengaluru Rural, Gadag, Tumakuru, Chikkaballapur, Uttara Kannada and Dharwad. “The decision regarding opening of shops and industries in taluks where there are no active COVID-19 cases will be taken by the concerned district in-charge minister,” Bhaskar said.

New Delhi, Feb 24: India has deeply appreciated the Senegal government's decision to extradite fugitive gangster Ravi Poojary to India, official sources said on Sunday.

Facilitation of transit provided by the Government of France has also been acknowledged, they said.

Ravi Prakash Poojary, accused of committing a number of serious offences including murder and extortion in multiple jurisdictions, was extradited from Senegal on Saturday.

The probe agencies have persistently pursued the case for his extradition with the authorities in Senegal. India had made a request with Senegal for his extradition in early 2019, sources said.

Poojary was associated with gangster Chhota Rajan, but he also worked for fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
