Cong veteran Janardhana Poojary blesses BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel

Bantwal, Nov 19: Congress leader and former union minister B Janardhana Poojary has blessed the BJP leader and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, who had defeated the former in two consecutive Lok Sabha polls.

The two leaders met during inauguration of the flag post procession organised by the Billava Samaja in honour of the deity of the Rajarajeshwari Temple of Shree Kshetra Polali at Brahmarshi Sri Narayana Guru Circle in BC Road on Sunday.

Mr Kateel himself approached Mr Poojary and sought his blessings after inquiring about his health. A few other BJP leaders including Mr Poojary’s confidante Harikrishna Bantwal, who recently joined BJP and former MLA Rukmaya Poojary were also present.

Rai inquires Poojary’s health

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai too was present during the inauguration of the procession. After handshake, Mr Rai inquired about Mr Poojary’s health.

After the inauguration of the procession, Mr Rai escorted Mr Poojary till his car. The two were publicly not seen together after Harikrishna Bantwal accused Mr Rai of abusing Mr Poojary. However, Mr Rai has rubbished the charge as a blatant lie.

Octogenarian Poojary has isolated himself from the Congress in recent days by criticising Congress leaders including chief minister Siddaramaiah.

Bengaluru, Jun 30: To instill confidence among its commuters, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to put stamp on hand of all passengers before they are allowed to board the buses.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, The decision was taken in the wake of a sudden jump in the number of COVID-19 cases reported from Bengaluru.

The round stamp is, however, different from 'home-quarantine' stamp applied to infected and they were not allowed to travel. Officials said that the measure is aimed at reassuring passengers that those travelling with them do not have symptoms. The left hand will be stamped with an ink which can be washed away by the time they reach home.

Bengaluru, June 21: An assistant sub-inspector of police who was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 infection in city-based Victoria hospital passed away on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday as he did not respond to the treatment for coronavirus.

The 59-year-old ASI was attached to the Wilson Garden traffic police station in Bengaluru. He tested positive for coronavirus on June 18 and was rushed to the COVID ward in Victoria hospital on June 19. He had fever for the last four days. His wife and two children have been quarantined. According to the police, the station has not yet been sealed down and no policemen have been quarantined.

The Wilson Garden ASI is the third Bengaluru police personnel to die of COVID-19 in the last one week. Earlier, an ASI from the VV Puram traffic police station had died undergoing treatment. On Saturday morning, a head constable from the Kalasipalya police station who was admitted at Victoria hospital passed away. The series of deaths in the police department has created fear among other policemen across the city.

One the other hand, dozens of policemen were tested positive in different parts of Karnataka today including 21 from two police stations of Bengaluru. 

Around 15 policemen from the Kalasipalya police station and five policemen from the Ashok Nagar traffic police station tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday.

In Kalasipalya, three ASIs, head constables and police constables have tested positive. In Ashok Nagar traffic police station, a probationary sub-inspector, an ASI, two police constables and a lady constable tested positive for the virus.

One more police constable working in Bandepalya police station also tested positive. Seven policemen who were in his primary contacts have been quarantined. BBMP officials have begun the process of fumigating the station premises and its surroundings.

Mangaluru, Apr 6: The city police were seen wearing personal protective equipment including eye protection on Monday, April while on lockdown duty to slow the spread of COVID-19.

City police Commissioner Harsha taking to twitter wrote, ''Specialised protection equipment, AntiContagion face shields have been issued to all policemen at the front line having the highest risk of exposure to coronavirus..
They are fighting a pandemic .. FOR YOU..Be kind to them..Comply with all legal instructions.''
