Mysuru Feb 25: Bhagyvathi, the Mayor of Mysuru City Corporation, has been expelled from the Congress party for alleged anti-party activities.
Mysuru Congress city unit president R Murthy said that Bhagyavathi has been expelled from her primary membership of the party for six years.
"We have notified the MCC commissioner to cancel her council membership and remove her from the mayor's post," Murthy added.
The mayoral elections were held on January 24. Bhagyavathi had contested as a rebel Congress candidate and won with the help of JD(S) and BJP. The designated Congress candidate Kamala Uday had lost the poll.
