Dharwad, May 7: It is Congressleaders who are giving deadlines for the fall of the coalition government in the state and BJP has nothing to do with it, said former chief minister Jagadish Shettar.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said forest minister Satish Jarkiholi had stated that the coalition government would not survive if Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister again after May 23. “The survival of the coalition government is in the hands of Congress and JD(S). Congress and JD(S) leaders are engaged in back stabbing each other. As a result, this government will fall after May 23 and Yeddyurappa will become the chief minister. Then Siddaramaiah and Rahul Gandhi will become mad,” Shettar said.

Stating that BJP had not tried to form a government, Shettar said leaders of the coalition parties are unhappy over the statements made by Satish and Ramesh Jarkiholi and G T Devegowda. “Congress should take a call on Ramesh Jarkiholi’s threat of quitting the party. Ramesh is not in touch with us” Shettar said.

He expressed confidence that BJP will win 23 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka and more than 300 in the country. “There was no discussion in the party about appointing a president of state unit of the party. Everyone here will abide by the decision of the top leaders,” he added.
