Congress leader Anil Lad hints at joining BJP

Bengaluru, Sept 29: Amidst reports of BJP’s continued effort to lure more leaders from opposition parties, former Congress legislator Anil Lad is planning to jump the ship to saffron party.

Anil Lad, also the former Rajya Sabha member, is said to have met CLP leader Siddaramaiah on Thursday and expressed his displeasure for being ignored in the party. He is believed to have informed Siddaramaiah about his plans to join the BJP.

Sources said, Anil Lad would soon meet Health and Family Welfare Minister B Sreeramulu and announce his decision to join the BJP. Before announcing his decision, Lad is likely to meet AICC chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, sources added.

Former Bellary MLA told reporters on Saturday, "I am disappointed with the way I was treated in the Congress. When the party planned padayatra to Ballari against Reddy brothers, we mobilised people and made necessary arrangements for the same. But now we are unwanted in the party." "I will soon join the BJP without any condition," he said.

Mangaluru Mar 30: The Mangaluru South Police has registered a criminal case against a man over a 'derogatory post' against the district administration. According to DC Sindhu B Rupesh, the man identified as Melwyn Pinto had sent a derogatory message on WhatsApp.

She warned on taking stringent action against miscreants who are spreading false information and rumours about district administration under DM Act provisions.

Meanwhile, City Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha said, "We have noticed people going around on merry rides without purpose either on two-wheelers or in cars during the lockdown period."

Shivamogga, Aug 5: Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa on Wednesday hailed the laying of foundation stone (bhoomi pujan) for a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya and said "Kashi Vishwanath and "Krishna Janmasthan temples have to be liberated".

"It is a good day that the foundation stone for Ram Temple has been laid. A beautiful temple will come up, but there are Kashi Vishwanath and Krishna Janmasthan temples which have to be liberated," Eshwarappa said.

The minister said that there is a "sign of slavery" at Krishna temple in Mathura and Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi.

"The whole nation is dreaming of Shri Krishna temple in Mathura and Kashi Vishwanath temple. I have visited the two temples. 

There is a sign of slavery. Mosques are there at holy places. When I visited the place at Mathura, I witnessed the wall. When we look at the wall, we feel like we are still slaves," he said.

"While visiting Kashi, there is also a structure of slavery. Dream of Hindus is fulfilled in Ayodhya. One day, it will be fulfilled in Mathura and Kashi. Mathura Sri Krishna and Kashi Vishwanath will be freed and temple will be built," Eshwarappa added.

The Places of Worship Act, enacted in 1991, says that religious character of a place of worship existing on the August 15, 1947 shall continue to be the same as it existed on that day. The Act kept Ayodhya case out of its purview.

Mangaluru, Apr 26: City Police Commissioner P S Harsha on Sunday said that the news about the implementation of seal down in some wards of Mangaluru city is fake and urged the public not to pay any heed to it.

Taking to twitter, Mr Harsha wrote, ''Some miscreants are floating some old speculative…TV news reports of seal down in some wards of Mangaluru city. It’s fake news.....Don’t Heed to fake news.''
