Madikeri, Sept 28: A police constable attached to the Ponnampete police station in Kodagu district has been suspended for his Facebook post on Indian army’s protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi led-union government’s policies.

Constable Shamim had shared the post he had received from others against the Prime Minister. The shared post mentioned protests by the Army, and asked, “Have you seen protests by Armymen earlier? Have you heard of such things? Does the Modi government need more shame than this one?”

Taking exception to his post, one B S Nandakumar from Madikeri, who claims himself to be an RTI activist, had filed a complaint with Superintendent of Police, Kodagu, P. Rajendra Prasad.

Confirming the suspension of Shamim pending an inquiry, Prasad said that a member of the police force should not identify himself with any party or ideology, which amounts to indiscipline under the Karnataka Police Act.

Lucknow, Feb 24: The Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board on Monday accepted the five acres of land provided for construction of the mosque in Ayodhya.

The Board also decided to form a trust to oversee the construction of the mosque.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Board's Chairman Zufar Faruqui.

Apart from this, the trust will also construct a charitable hospital, public library and a centre showcasing the heritage of Indo-Islamic civilisation which will also serve as a research and study centre for the same, according to a press release by the board.

The appointment of members to the trust will be announced following its creation, the release added.

The Supreme Court had on November 9 last year directed the Central government to hand over the disputed site at Ayodhya for the construction of a temple and set up a trust for the same.

The apex court had further directed the government to allocate an alternative five acres of land at a prominent location in Ayodhya for the construction of a mosque to the Sunni Waqf Board.

Dubai, May 5: Saudi Arabian prosecutors have ordered the arrest of a Saudi citizen for insulting an Asian expatriate and abusing him for not embracing Islam.

A video went viral online showing the expat, apparently with little knowledge of the Arabic language, being insulated by an Arabic-speaking man who does not appear in the clip, for having not embraced Islam and for not fasting.

A monitoring centre affiliated with the public prosecution examined the video the content of which “shows the citizen’s use of abusive words against the Asian resident on the pretext of inviting him to Islam,” the prosecution source said.

“The public prosecution closely follows up whatever infringes rights of citizens and residents including harm to their dignity and legal rights regardless of pretexts of such infringement,” the source added.
