The covid-19 lockdown has thrown wedding plans in disarray in coastal Karnataka like all other activities involving a crowd of people. While many people chose to postpone the scheduled and about to be scheduled weddings, some are going ahead with scheduled plans and holding weddings with no more than 50 guests as per the guidelines issued by the government of Karnataka. 

The government may relax the norms and allow participation of more guests in the future. However, holding wedding ceremonies will be a new challenge when people are returning to a ‘new normalcy.’ Compared to the traditional wedding ceremonies of the region, marriages in the time of Covid-19 are expected to be smaller as the organizers have to adhere to the safety protocol and safe distancing norms. Wedding planners and caterers will have to ensure systematic safety protocol, safe and responsible operations, preparation of the food, event crew and vendors safe zone, sanitized kitchen, transportations. Even buffet settings will change to include smaller but multiple cuisines, self serving stations, markings on line to maintaining safe distance at the food counters.

More importantly, venue has to be prepared as per the government instructions. Things like disinfection and sanitization, hygiene, ample toilet facilities, hand wash, thermometer scans, masks, sanitizing stations should be taken care of. Mangaluru, Apr 27: Two more people including an elderly woman have been tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada. 

With this the total number of covid-19 cases in the district reached 21, though most of them have recovered and returned home. 

In its today's bulletin, the health and family welfare department confirmed that a 45-year-old man and his 80-year-old mother tested positive for the deadly disease. 

It is learnt that one of them had undergone treatment at a private hospital where a woman from Bantwal, who died of covid-19, was being treated for breathing difficulties, before she was shifted to Wenlock Hospital which is now converted into covid-19 hospital.

Udupi, Feb 11: The three patients, including a child, who were suspected to be suffering from coronavirus were discharged from hospital on Monday after the throat swab sample test proved negative for the infection.

The throat swabs of three persons, who were admitted to a district government hospital in Udupi with symptoms of fever on Friday, were sent to Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute for testing of coronavirus.

The trio had returned from China, 15 days ago.

The 30-year-old man from Kaup taluk had been to China on personal work and had returned to Udupi, 15 days ago. He had symptoms of fever, throat pain and cold and he was suggested to get admitted to hospital.

He was treated in the isolation ward.

A family from Mandarthi had gone on a tour to China and had returned 15 days ago. The father and son, who had complained of fever, were kept under observation at the isolation ward in the district government hospital.
