Cops thwart cattle smuggling bid; four arrested; animals rescued

Mangaluru, Aug 3: The police have arrested four persons after intercepting a lorry in which they were smuggling cattle to Kerala from Udupi yesterday.

The arrested cattle smugglers have been identified as Radhakrishna, a Keralite, Subhash Shetty and Sathish Kumar, both localites. The police have also arrested lorry driver Naimuddin, who also hails from Kerala.

The police rescued seven cows and six calves that were being transported for a slaughter house.

The operation was carried out by the senior officers of Mangaluru city police along with the sleuths of Kavoor and Panambur police station under the guidance of city police chief T R Suresh.

Mangaluru, Jul 11: Under the fourth phase of Vande Bharat Mission, the government of India has announced as many as 42 repatriation flights from Saudi Arabia to various Indian destinations including four flights to Karnataka. 

On July 25 an Air India flight will fly from Dammam International Airport to Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.

On July 26 another Air India flight will take off from Dammam and land in Bengaluru and then again it will continue its journey till Mangaluru International Airport. 

On July 27, Air India will operate a flight from Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport to Bengaluru. 

On July 28, Air India will operate another flight from Jeddah to Mangaluru. It will be the last flight from Saudi to Karnataka under the fourth phase of Vande Bharat Mission.

Ballari, Mar 6: Ballari Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul on Friday said that two persons who had shown symptoms of COVID-19 had been admitted to the district government hospital here.

Informing this to the presspersons here, Mr Nakul said that the cases were reported from Jindal village of K R Hospital taluk and another one from Hospet town in Ballari taluk.

He said a suspect returned from Dubai to Hospet last week and showed symptoms of COVID-19. Both suspected patients were admitted to special isolated ward in Ballari government hospital and their throat swab tests taken on Thursday had been sent to lab in Bangalore to check for COVID-19.

Bengaluru, Mar 11: With the outbreak of coronavirus, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday said that over 1,000 people in the state have been identified for observation.

"So far, 1048 people have been identified for observation. Out of which 446 samples have been sent for testing. 389 samples have tested negative. Four samples have tested positive," Chief Minister Yediyurappa told reporters.

Earlier today, Health Minister B Sriramulu said that family members of those who tested positive for COVID-19 have been isolated and their health is being monitored.
