Couple who trafficked 5000 girls in 26 yrs arrested with Rs 100-cr in assets

August 31, 2016

New Delhi, Aug 31: Delhi Police have arrested a couple who allegedly ran the biggest trafficking and prostitution racket in Capital's red light area of GB Road.

sextraders420With the routes of the alleged syndicate stretching all the way to Nepal and pecuniary gains made by the couple Affaq Husain and Saira running into crores of rupees, the Delhi Police Crime Branch have slapped the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against them, the first such case in GB Road.

Together, the two own property worth nearly Rs 100 crore from the illegal business, said the police, including houses in Delhi and Bangalore and even a school, which the two run in the name of their daughter.

Victim turns perpetrator

Saira, who had herself been trafficked by her first husband Talab Husain has been in the trade longer than Affaq.

In the past 26 years, they have trafficked over 5000 girls from Nepal and West Bengal. In GB Road, they run six kothas (brothels) including the biggest — number 64. “To hide his criminal activities, Hussain had handed over the management of the Kothas of G.B. Road in Delhi to managers andnayikas (wardens). Hussain used to pay them 15 per cent of the earnings,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav. This network and two others account for nearly 80 per cent of the flesh trade on GB Road and slapping of MCOCA instead of the conventional IPC or Immoral Trafficking Act will ensure a better deterrence, said the police.

The women were sold to the brothel owners at G.B. Road for Rs 1-2 lakh.

“The victims were thrashed, confined in hidden cells, intoxicated and kept starved for many days to force them in this activity. While the victims are compelled to live in hell like circumstances, their distressed family members keep running from pillar to post to trace them. The girls are paid meagre amount once the amount spent for buying them along with interest at the rate of eight to ten per cent per month is recovered from their earnings,” said Mr. Yadav.

Dear #2 Mayank, mumbai
There is no Disgrace to muslim community. In all religion there are some people who do bad that does not mean that because of that their religion becomes disgrace. In hindu religion also there are some people who do this type of business and it is not correct to say that hinduism is disgraced. The problem of these people is they do not study and follow their religion. If people study the holy scriptures of their religion then we can avoid these social crimes.

If they did it then they must be punished severely.

Another thing the supply is based on demand, so cant the men control themselves, is their wife not enough for them? or cant they get married to fulfill their desires?

If men can stay away from illegal desires then all this crime can be stopped to a major extent. Respect the women.

Bengaluru, Jul 19: Senior JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday advised the Karnataka government to utilise the services of private medical colleges in treating Covid-19 patients, by taking them into confidence, instead of threatening them with license cancellation for not complying with directives.

He also said a concentrated effort should be taken in the fight against coronavirus. "It was wrong for any hospital to deny treatment. It is also not correct on part of the government to threaten the private medical colleges with cancellation of their licence for that reason. It won't be of any help at this time of medical emergency.

Remember that MCI has the authority to cancel licenses, not government," Kumaraswamy tweeted. "Instead of showing fury on private medical colleges at such a time, concentrate on taking their service by taking them into confidence. Look into their needs. I urge for a concentrated fight against coronavirus," he added.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had on Saturday convened a meeting with Private Medical College Hospitals regarding Covid management and directed them to provide 50 per cent of the beds as promised.

In another tweet, Kumaraswamy said the notice being put out by local administrations in front of coronavirus patient's house is leading to new age social discrimination and untouchability.

To ensure that infected patients and his family leads a respectable life, such a practice has to be dropped immediately. "..... instead health workers should be sent to their houses to educate and instill confidence in them," the former CM added.

Bengaluru, Mar 11: The move by rebel ruling Congress MLAs in Madhya Pradesh to trigger the crisis for the party's government in the state appears to have been in the making for at least close to a month as Karnataka BJP leaders were sounded about hosting them in Bengaluru in advance, sources said.

They also indicated that the 19 rebel MLAs would stay in the city for at least two weeks till an alternative government takes charge in Madhya Pradesh.

A senior Karnataka BJP leader, in charge of the Madhya Pradesh legislators' stay in Bengaluru, received a communication from the party's central leaders about the move nearly 15-20 days ago, the sources involved in the development said on condition of anonymity on Tuesday.

The leader had even gone to New Delhi in the third week of February to meet BJP's central leaders in this regard, they said.

In a massive setback for the Congress, its prominent youth leader Jyotiradtya Scindia quit the party and in a coordinated rebellion on Tuesday 21 MLAs loyal to him resigned in Madhya Pradesh, pushing the 15-month-old Kamal Nath government to the brink of collapse.

As many as 19 Madhya Pradesh MLAs, including six ministers, said to be loyalists of Mr Scindia who appeared set to join BJP, are camping at a resort in Bengaluru. Two of them are women, the sources said.

The MLAs on Tuesday sent their resignation letters via e-mail to Raj Bhavan in Bhopal from Bengaluru.

According to the sources, eight legislators, including an independent, have been staying in the city for about a week now. Of them two - one from Congress and the other an independent MLA - had gone back.

The six were joined by 13 legislators, who landed in the city by a chartered flight on Monday, and all of them are put up in a villa.

The senior Karnataka BJP leader, also an MLA, is looking after their stay and related arrangements on the directions of the party high command, the sources said. Their stay here may be for a couple of weeks.

"There will be a no-confidence motion, and then there will be a trust vote of the new alternative government that will be formed. So they may have to stay here for some time. They may be moved out of their current location," they said.

The Madhya Pradesh legislature session is expected to begin on March 16.

The sources also said the six legislators staying in the city since last week were shifted a couple of times within the city.

Congress in Madhya Pradesh, under the leadership of Kamal Nath, had come to power in December 2018 by ousting the BJP by a narrow margin.
