Court grants bail to Liyaqat Shah

New Delhi, May 17: Liyaqat Shah,whom the Delhi Police has accused of planning a terror strike in the national capital was today granted bail by a special NIA court here.liyaqat

District Judge I S Mehta enlarged Liyaqat on bail on a personal bond of Rs 20,000 with a surety of the like amount.

The court imposed several conditions on Liyaqat while granting him bail and directed him not to leave the country without its prior permission.

45-year-old Liyaqat was arrested on March 20 while crossing the Indo-Nepal border in Gorakhpur with his family. Shah's family Friday claimed he was returning home in Kashmir valley via Nepal from Pakistan under the Jammu and Kashmir government's rehabilitation policy for surrendered militants.

Delhi Police, which arrested him soon after he had crossed the border, alleged that Liyaqat was involved in the conspiracy to carry out terror attacks in the capital ahead of Holi.

The Home Ministry had on March 28 issued a notification facilitating NIA to take over the case after his arrest had generated conflicting versions from Delhi and J&K Police.

New Delhi, May 29: With the highest spike of 7,466 more COVID-19 cases and 175 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, India's COVID-19 tally reached 1,65,799 on Friday, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The number of active coronavirus cases stands at 89,987 while 71,105 people have been cured or recovered and one patient has migrated, it said. The death toll due to the infection has reached 4,706 in the country.

Maharashtra is the worst affected state with 59,546 cases. Tamil Nadu has recorded as many as 19,372 cases while Gujarat and Delhi have recorded 15,562 and 16,281 coronavirus cases respectively.

Feb 9: The Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used in Delhi Assembly polls are kept under tight security, in the 'Strong Room' located at Atal Adarsh Bengali Balika Vidyalaya in Gol Market.

Voting for Delhi Assembly elections took place on Saturday with voters turnout well short of the 2015 election mark.

Counting of the votes will be on February 11.

Earlier, Deputy Election Commissioner Sudip Jain had said the Delhi elections took place peacefully and smoothly.

Shirdi, Jan 18: The administrative body of Sai Baba's Samadhi calls for the indefinite closure of the Shirdi temple after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray reportedly said Pathri in Parbhani is Sai Baba's birthplace.

"We have announced to close Shirdi against rumours from January 19," said B Wakchaure of Saibaba Sansthan Trust.

"A meeting of villagers will be convened Saturday evening to discuss the issue. Devotees will not face any difficulty if they come to Shirdi," Mr Wakchaure added.
