Meerut, Jan 16: Indian pacer Mohammed Shami's father, Tauseef Ahmad, on Friday claimed that his family was in 'danger' as they were being targeted in the name of ‘cow slaughter’

shamiHis comments a day after his son Mohammad Haseeb (brother of Shami) was arrested and then subsequently released on bail on charge of assaulting and “pressuring” cops to release a few men arrested on charges of cow slaughter

"My son was not even present there at the time of the incident and had reached the site only much later," Ahmad told media persons.

“Haseeb was just an onlooker like so many others who had gathered there. He was unnecessarily dragged into the controversy. It is just that a few persons are nurturing enmity with our family because of the publicity we have got after Shami started playing for team India. I had reported the issue to the Amroha district magistrate (DM) in this regard a month ago. This (the arrest) is the result of that. A term like 'cow slaughter' is being used to target us."

Amroha DM Ved Prakash meanwhile confirmed that Ahmad had indeed met him a month ago. "It is true he had met me with a complaint that someone was threatening his family on phone. But he did not mention who his tormentors were."

On Thursday afternoon, station officer of Didoli police station, Praveen Kumar, got a tip-off regarding a person wanted in a case of cow slaughter. When the team led by Kumar went to arrest the man, Haseeb allegedly prevented the police from doing their job and allegedly scuffled with sub-inspector Pradeep Bhardwaj.

In the confusion, the accused fled the scene. Police then arrested Haseeb and filed charges against him.

Cops said that they filed an FIR against Haseeb under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 153 (promoting enmity between different groups), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 224 (resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension). However, on account of his ill-health, he was given bail.

Bajrangis and sangh pariwar members should adopt a cow each and protect the cow. So, there will be no cow slaughter. But, how to trust these radicals, they will only sell the cows.

Bengaluru, Mar 5: The Karnataka government has constituted a competent authority for I Monetary Advisory (IMA) cases under the KPIDFE (Karnataka Protection of Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishments) Act, 2004, which is required to call claims from erstwhile depositors of the IMA group of entities under the provisions of the Act, said Harsh Gupta, Special Officer and Competent Authority for IMA cases.

In order to ensure transparency and to avoid harassment to the claimants, an online application software has been developed for accepting claims from the depositors, Gupta stated.

"The claim application can be filed from any of Banglore-1, Karnataka-1 and Seva-Sindhu Kendras of the state government in person or through online. The required documents can be submitted using e-attestation along with claims or at a later date, but prior to the claim settlement. The details of authorities for e-attestation will be informed later," the official stated.

The claimants will have to provide Aadhaar authentication based identification or identification by the designated officer based on alternate documents; current mobile number and address among others.

The details of the draft claim filing process has been put for public feedback on website 'imaclaims.karnataka.gov.in'. The depositors can give their feedback on the website, WhatsApp number or email, Gupta stated.

Based on feedback received from the depositors, the claim process and the claim application software will be finalised, the official said and further informed that the start date for acceptance of claims will be informed through wide publicity at a later date.

"There will be a total time period of 30 days for submission of the claims from the start date of acceptance of claims," Gupta said.

An SIT was investigating the multi-crore IMA Jewels case, where the firm had allegedly cheated a large number of investors after promising them impressive returns on their deposits. The SIT has already arrested several government officials and questioned others including politicians in the matter.

The prime accused and Managing Director of IMA Mohammed Mansoor Khan, who had fled the country after several complaints were registered against him in connection with the scam, has also been arrested.

The state government had constituted an SIT to probe the scam when it first came to light in June earlier this year when more than 4,000 investors trooped outside the showroom after an audio clip purportedly recorded by Khan went viral.

Bengaluru, Feb 14: Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Vishvesha Hegde Kageri on Friday announced continuation of ban on private TV channels from live coverage of the Budget Session being held this Month and next month.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Kageri said that the ban was imposed on the lines of practice in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the Parliament. Private channels will not be allowed to cover live on going session instead they will be provided with clippings by the concerned Department as was done during the previous Session.

For the first time in the history the BJP government, which had come to power for the second time in the state last year after pulling down Congress-JDS coalition government, had banned live coverage of the session by private channels and despite Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa's appeal the ban was not lifted.
