KVG student ends life

Sullia, January 4: An engineering student has allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Parivarakana in Sullia on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Vanitha (21), daughter of Bhojappa Gowda and Damayanti couple. She was staying in a private accommodation at Parivarakana along with her younger sister.

It was said that the girl was in one-side love with one of her lecturers at KVG College of Engineering. When her parents came to know this affair, they had snatched her mobile phone.

Dejected by the incident, she had attempted to commit suicide by consuming sleeping pills on Monday night. Later she was treated and taken home.

However, she took the extreme step when her younger sister had gone to college on Tuesday.

3 arrested for using plastic scrap to make jaggery

Muzaffarnagar, Jun 11: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly using plastic scrap to make jaggery at Bhokaheri village under Bhopa police station here, as official said on Thursday.

Police raided a jaggery manufacturing unite (kolhu) and arrested three persons on Wednesday, SHO, Bhopa police station Sanjive Kumar said.

Police have registered a case against five persons including the trio that was arrested while two of them managed to escape, he said, adding that two loaded tractor trollies of plastic scrap have been seized.

Man charred to death while making TikTok video

Panipat, Mar 3: A 22-year-old man was charred to death after he came in contact with a live electricity wire while posing for a TikTok video near the Matlaudha railway station here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday evening when Vikas, a resident of Dharamgarh village, climbed a pole over which the wire was passing and posed for the video, police said.

His three friends were standing below when the accident took place.

Vikas came in contact with the wire carrying 25,000 volts current and was burnt, police said.

Police have sent the body for a post-mortem and started investigation into the matter.
