Man killed in serial accident

Mangalore, January 17: A person was killed and three others injured in a serial road accident involving two cars and a lorry at Padu Panambur on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Hameed (46), a resident of Muloor Village in Udupi.

According to a complaint lodged with Mulki police station by victim’s brother Basheer Ali, they with other family members were returning from Kasargdo after attending a religious conference.

As they neared Padu Panambur, a speeding car from the opposite direction, in a bid to overtake a lorry, collided with the lorry and later hit the car.

Abdul Hameed sustained severe injuries and died on the way to hospital. A case was registered against the car driver Sachin.

Yavatmal, May 19: Four migrant workers were killed and 15 others were injured after a bus they were travelling in crashed into a truck in Yavatmal on Tuesday morning.

The bus was travelling from Solapur to Jharkhand. More details are currently awaited.

This comes amid nationwide COVID-19 lockdown has been extended to May 31, albeit with some relaxations.

Belagavi, Jan 19: Miscreants have murdered a couple and their son at Dodwad Village, about 50 km from here, in the wee hours on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Shvananda Basavanthappa Andanashetty, his wife Shanthavva and their son Vinod.

Senior Police officials visited the spot and a case was registered at Dodwad Police Station.

New Delhi, Jan 2: A 20-year-old man set his motorcycle on fire after he was challaned by the traffic police in south Delhi's Greater Kailash area on Wednesday, police said.

Vikas, a resident of Sangam Vihar, was challaned by the traffic police for riding the motorcycle without helmet, a senior police official said.

The traffic police challaned him and impounded the motorcycle, following which Vikas set the bike on fire, the officer said.

A case has been registered and the accused arrested, the officer added.
