Three injured as motorcyclist throws bottle at car

Karwar, January 28: Three persons travelling by a car were injured on National Highway at Rangikatte in Bhatkal on Thursday night when a motorcycle rider threw a soft drink bottle at the moving car.Injured.


The injured persons were identified as Sultana (20), Nouphil Khalil Damoudi (23), and Naveed Iftikar Musba (32). Of them, Ms. Sultana who was sitting in the rear seat, has suffered serious injuries and was shifted to Mangalore for treatment.


Front glass

According to the injured, they were going to Bhatkal from Sagar Road. A motorcycle rider who was coming from the front threw a bottle on the front glass of the car. The bottle pierced through front glass and hit Ms. Sultana, they said.


Suspect

The police said a similar case was reported few days ago on the National Highway where a bottle was thrown at a lorry.


The police suspect that some miscreants were deliberately doing this mischief. The Bhatkal Police have registered a case.

Mumbai, Feb 11: A 65-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband over debt and illness in suburban Powai here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident came to light when Sheela Ajit Lad was found dead by her neighbours at Sukh Shanti Co-operative Society at around 9.30 pm on Monday, an official said.

The victim was allegedly killed by her husband Ajit Lad, who hit her on the head with a heavy object, slit her wrists and strangled her to death, he said.

The accused absconded at around 7.30 pm, leaving a note at the crime scene, saying he was going to commit suicide and had killed his wife because he was heavily in debt and she was suffering from an ailment, the official said.

The childless couple lived alone in the apartment, he added.

"On the basis of the note, we have registered a case of murder against Ajit Lad and have launched a manhunt for him. We have not traced him or found his body as he had mentioned suicide in the note," deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Zone X Ankit Goyal said.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 22:An accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act jumped into the sea on Wednesday morning when he was taken for evidence collection at Kasaba in Kasargode district, police said.

Accused Mahesh was arrested following a complaint by his neighbour on Tuesday evening.

The police said that they took the accused to the seashore to collect evidence in the case when Mahesh jumped into the sea. Two police officials too jumped in after him to catch hold of him but could not locate Mahesh.

Later, swimmers were deployed to try and locate the missing man.

Nagpur, Apr 5: A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Imambada area in Nagpur on Saturday due to financial distress, police said.

Nikhil Gavhane, who worked in a grocery shop, hanged himself as he had taken money from a person and was stressed over repayment, an official said.

"He was depressed since a week," the Imambada police station official said.
