New Delhi, February 15: Irked over his love proposal being rejected, a 21-year-old youth along with his brother and associate allegedly abducted a teenaged girl from near her house here and murdered her.

Ravi Kumar, his brother Rahul and associate Vinod were arrested yesterday for their involvement in the abduction and murder of the 18-year-old girl, police said here today.

The girl, a resident of Qutab Vihar colony in south-west Delhi, was abducted by the trio on February 9 while she was returning home with two other girls.

The police spotted the car used in the crime in Dwarka yesterday area and grilled one of its occupants.

On sustained interrogation, Rahul confessed about his involvement in the case. Acting on his tip-off, Ravi and Vinod were also arrested.

"During interrogation, Ravi told police he, his brother Rahul and friend Vinod were interested in the girl. He had made overtures to the girl which she had spurned," a senior police official said.

Having felt humiliated at the rejection, the three on February 9 drove towards Qutab Vihar in the car and parked it on an isolated stretch of the road.

"As soon as the girls came, they overtook them and dragged the victim into the car and sped off. They took the girl to Karawara village in Haryana and killed her and dumped the body in a mustard field," the official said.

Bengaluru, May 6: Central Crime Branch Police have nabbed 71 people involved in various crimes taking advantage of Lock-down which prevents movement of people in the street and seized stolen properties worth about Rs 1.70 crore, official said on Wednesday.

Police said that in all 56 cases were booked. In all 17,312 duplicate Sanitisers, 2000 lts of Chemicals, 18,750 fake Masks, 270 Thermometers and two cars were seized from the arrested culprits.

During the raid godowns where rice and dal meant for free distribution during lock-down were robbed and stored were also seized.

New Delhi, May 9: A 23-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide at the AIIMS here after her mother died of cancer at the hospital, police said on Saturday.

She was reported missing after her mother passed away on Wednesday and her body was found near the new private ward block of the hospital on Saturday, they said, adding that she fell to her death from a building.

"Her mother was a cancer patient. She was being treated at the hospital and had died during treatment on Wednesday," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said.

Her father was busy in the formalities when she left the area. She was reported missing since Wednesday. The family hails from Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said.

Hospital staff noticed the body and informed the police. The block was closed due to which nobody found out about it earlier, police said.

Police said she had called her friends and told them that she was going to kill herself. The body has been recovered and an inquest proceeding is underway.
