Cop arrested for raping minor

Faridabad, March 17: A constable has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor at gun-point, police said today.

In a complaint to police commissioner, a 16-year-old girl had alleged that Virendra, who was working as a computer operator in a police station in Ballabgarh, had raped her at gunpoint last year when he was posted in Old Thana and had been sexually exploiting her since on a false promise of marrying her.

After an inqury into the allegation, Virendra was arrested this morning and produced before the magistrate who remanded him in judicial custody.

The constable had been suspended, they said.

Yavatmal, May 19: Four migrant workers were killed and 15 others were injured after a bus they were travelling in crashed into a truck in Yavatmal on Tuesday morning.

The bus was travelling from Solapur to Jharkhand. More details are currently awaited.

This comes amid nationwide COVID-19 lockdown has been extended to May 31, albeit with some relaxations.

Belagavi, Jan 19: Miscreants have murdered a couple and their son at Dodwad Village, about 50 km from here, in the wee hours on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Shvananda Basavanthappa Andanashetty, his wife Shanthavva and their son Vinod.

Senior Police officials visited the spot and a case was registered at Dodwad Police Station.

Nagpur, Apr 5: A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide in Imambada area in Nagpur on Saturday due to financial distress, police said.

Nikhil Gavhane, who worked in a grocery shop, hanged himself as he had taken money from a person and was stressed over repayment, an official said.

"He was depressed since a week," the Imambada police station official said.
