Showroom burgled in Udupi; goods worth Rs 3.8 lakh stolen

Udupi, March 20: Unidentified miscreants gained entry into Pai International show room in the city and decamped with electronic goods worth Rs 3.8 lakh in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

Police inspecting burgled Pai International show roomat Udupi on Monday. Speaking to Deccan Herald, SP Dr Boralingaiah said that as many as five laptops, 15 cameras and nine mobile hand sets have been taken away by the miscreants.

Sources said the CC camera footage has shown two masked persons entering the showroom at around 3 am. One has been identified as the security guard. A case is registered at Udupi Town Police Station.

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Bengaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) on Wednesday raided a spa in Koramangala area and rescued six girls.

The owner of the spa is absconding and the manager has been arrested.

Mandya, Jun 14: In a tragic incident, a woman and her two children were drowned in a pond at Beeranahalli village in Nagamangala taluk of this district on Sunday.

Police said that the deceased have been identified as Geeta (40), and her two children Savita(19) and Soumya(14).

Savaitha is a degree student while Soumya was studying in 9th standard. The trio drowned in a pond where they had gone to wash their cows. The locals rushed to the spot and tried to rescue them but could not save.

Mumbai, Jan 12: At least eight persons were killed and several others injured when a massive blast followed by a fire ripped a chemical factory at Boisar in Palghar district, nearly 100 km north of Mumbai, on Saturday, officials said.

Top Palghar district administration, police and fire brigade officials have rushed to the spot for the rescue operation, while Fire Brigade teams from Boisar MIDC industrial area and Tarapur Atomic Power Station are engaged in dousing the flames.

As per local witnesses, the intensity of the explosion was so severe that it was audible in a 35-km range and one building in the factory collapsed.

Besides, many homes in the immediate vicinity were shaken and people ran outside thinking it was an earthquake, as power lines also failed.

The exact cause of the explosion-cum-blaze which occurred around 7 p.m. is not immediately available.
