Facebook helps cop nab thieves

Indore, March 27: The social networking site has helped the police crack a theft case wherein two students were arrested after they allegedly picked a motor-bike from a mall a few days ago.

The police have arrested Ayush Rai, a resident of Anuppur and Abhishek Tiwari, a resident of Shahdol, after tracking them with the help of the Facebook. Tukoganj police station inspector Ashok Tiwari said a motorbike of Nikhilesh Khandelwal was stolen from the Treasure Island parking on March 14. The CCTV camera installed in the parking captured the image of thieves, he said.

Later, the footage was matched with other CCTV cameras installed in the mall, said Tiwari. It was found out with the help of footage that they had consumed liquor in a bar at the mall and had also done purchasing on the basis of footage. Guessing them student, police tried to find out the accused on Facebook and traced them to Bhopal.

Mandya, Jun 14: In a tragic incident, a woman and her two children were drowned in a pond at Beeranahalli village in Nagamangala taluk of this district on Sunday.

Police said that the deceased have been identified as Geeta (40), and her two children Savita(19) and Soumya(14).

Savaitha is a degree student while Soumya was studying in 9th standard. The trio drowned in a pond where they had gone to wash their cows. The locals rushed to the spot and tried to rescue them but could not save.

Panipat, Mar 3: A 22-year-old man was charred to death after he came in contact with a live electricity wire while posing for a TikTok video near the Matlaudha railway station here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday evening when Vikas, a resident of Dharamgarh village, climbed a pole over which the wire was passing and posed for the video, police said.

His three friends were standing below when the accident took place.

Vikas came in contact with the wire carrying 25,000 volts current and was burnt, police said.

Police have sent the body for a post-mortem and started investigation into the matter.

Belagavi, Jan 19: Miscreants have murdered a couple and their son at Dodwad Village, about 50 km from here, in the wee hours on Sunday.

The victims were identified as Shvananda Basavanthappa Andanashetty, his wife Shanthavva and their son Vinod.

Senior Police officials visited the spot and a case was registered at Dodwad Police Station.
