New Delhi, June 7: In yet another hit-and-run case, a Delhi police constable was killed on duty by a speeding car in north east Delhi on Wednesday night.
According to an eyewitness, a Santro car hit Head Constable Ishwar Dayal when he was crossing the road in Usmanpur around midnight yesterday.
Mr Dayal, a resident of Muradnagar, was taken to nearby Guru Teg Bahadur hospital in a critical condition. He died of severe head injuries.
No arrests have been made yet in the case.
Kozhikode, Jul 20: A 17-year old boy died of head injuries while trying to protect his mother from being assaulted by his drunk father here, police said on Sunday.
The youngster suffered the fatal injury after his head hit against the door when his father shoved him at their home on Saturday. Venu, had come home in an inebriated state and picked up a quarrel with his wife and started beating her up, they said.
On seeing this, Alan tried to intervene. Though the boy was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved, they added. Venu was arrested and a case has been registered.
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 22:An accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act jumped into the sea on Wednesday morning when he was taken for evidence collection at Kasaba in Kasargode district, police said.
Accused Mahesh was arrested following a complaint by his neighbour on Tuesday evening.
The police said that they took the accused to the seashore to collect evidence in the case when Mahesh jumped into the sea. Two police officials too jumped in after him to catch hold of him but could not locate Mahesh.
Later, swimmers were deployed to try and locate the missing man.
Kozhikode, Jun 26: A man, who had returned from Bahrain on Thursday and has been under quarantine at his house in Villyapallai near here, has been stabbed on his arm by an unidentified person.
Police sources said the assailant, with a masked face, had ransacked the man's house by break-opening the door at midnight lat night and stabbed Lijeesh on his arm and fled from the scene.
The nearby residents took Lijeesh to a nearby hospital and was put back on quarantine.
