Dishonour shocker from Haryana: Class 12 student killed by father; couple shot at by girl's brother

Sonipat/ Pataudi, June 9: A class 12 student, was killed by her own father in Sonipat on the outskirts of New Delhi. Her crime; she fell in love and wanted to marry a boy from the same village. When she did not bow down to family pressure, her father Brajesh Singh used her dupatta to strangle her and then turned himself in to the police.

Mr Singh, who works as a security guard, in a factory told the police, how he tried to persuade his daughter to give up on marrying the boy, and even stopped her from going to school midway, while she was in class 12. When nothing worked, he killed her.

Her mother says the boy her daughter wanted to marry was like an uncle, which is why they were against it.

Just a few kilometres away in Pataudi, an attempted dishonour killing because two people married each other against the will of their families.

Monica had eloped with Veer Prakash about one and a half year ago, and got married. After being on the run all this time, Monica's brothers tracked them down yesterday, and shot them. The couple are now admitted in Delhi's Safdurjung hospital. The couple has now gained consciousness but the bullets are still lodged inside their bodies.

The police are looking for seven members of Monica's family, all of whom are untraceable. They say that the couple was told to return home and have a court marriage. The couple got the impression that the matter had been resolved so returned. "They both went home to Monica's family and were there till 10 pm. After that the girl's elder brother took them to Mao Road in Pataudi and shot them," explains Praveen Mehta, DCP South, Gurgaon.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 10: The man who fled from the Medical College Hospital where he was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 committed suicide on Wednesday morning after being brought back. He used his bed sheet to hang himself from the ceiling.

Hailing from Anad near Nedumangadu, the man, who was undergoing treatment in the isolation room set up at KHRWS pay ward, escaped from the hospital and boarded two KSRTC buses to reach his home.

The Health Department had said the latest tests had returned negative and he was to be discharged on Wednesday. However, City Police Commissioner Balram Kumar Upadhyay had claimed that one more test result of the person was awaited.

The man was blocked by locals upon his arrival at Anad. He was later taken back to the hospital and the police had registered a case against him under the Kerala Public Health Act and Epidemic Diseases Ordinance.

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Bengaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) on Wednesday raided a spa in Koramangala area and rescued six girls.

The owner of the spa is absconding and the manager has been arrested.
