Photographer killed; body found by roadside

Mysore, June 18: A photographer has allegedly been killed in the city on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Karthik (23), son of Somashekar, a resident of Gandhinagar in the city.

The body of the youth was found lying on the road connecting Five Lights Circle to Ashoka road on Sunday morning near Farooqia Girls High School and PU?College. The assailants had smashed the head of Karthik with huge stones.

Lashkar police, who received the information from passers-by, arrived on the spot and pressed a sniffer dog into action.

The dog led the police to a missing shoe of the deceased inside the college. While the motive is not known, police sources said the victim was chased for a distance before being murdered.

Meanwhile, CCTV camera installed by traffic police at the circle is said to have captured the incident.

However, power outage has resulted in unclear images. Police commissioner K?L?Sudheer, Lashkar sub-inspector Omkarappa and other officers arrived on the spot. Lakshar police have registered a case and are investigating.

Two women killed

Two women were killed in two separate incidents in the city on Saturday night. The deceased have been identified as Savithramma (55) and Munni (55).

In the first incident, Savithramma was mowed down by a maxicab on Dewan’s road. Savithramma, wife of Bhyrappa, was a resident of Srirangapatna in Mandya district. Devaraja police have registered a case. In the second incident, Munni, wife of Syed Mohammed Husain was hit by a motorbike — resulting in her death.

Husain, Munni and their daughter Subeida Banu were returning from Devi Nursing Home in?Bogadi second stage when a motorbike rammed into them severly injuring Munni. Later, she was admitted to K?R?Hospital.

However, she failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to the injuries on Sunday morning. Kuvempunagar traffic police have registered a case.

Mandya, Jun 14: In a tragic incident, a woman and her two children were drowned in a pond at Beeranahalli village in Nagamangala taluk of this district on Sunday.

Police said that the deceased have been identified as Geeta (40), and her two children Savita(19) and Soumya(14).

Savaitha is a degree student while Soumya was studying in 9th standard. The trio drowned in a pond where they had gone to wash their cows. The locals rushed to the spot and tried to rescue them but could not save.

Tikamgarh, Jul 25: Promise of providing housing to the poor has been made by both Centre as well as State governments but a Dalit family in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh is forced to live in a toilet for the last several years.

However, the administration denied that the family is living in the toilet.

Maganlal Ahirwar, his wife and four children live in Keshavgarh Gram Panchayat of Mohangarh area of Tikamgarh district. All of them have been living in the toilet for four years. Ahirwar's wife Phula Devi said she told the authorities several times that her family didn't get house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, but no one listened. The couple even got their daughter married in the same toilet.

They even got an electricity connection and gas connection under the Ujjwala scheme.

Mohangarh tehsildar Dr. Abhijeet Singh told media persons, "I got to know about the case and have asked for the report. Maganlal Ahirwar came to the office two-three days ago and denied that he was living in the toilet with his family. He has an ancestral house in the village."

He might have lived in a toilet earlier but currently he is not living there, Dr. Singh added.

Panipat, Mar 3: A 22-year-old man was charred to death after he came in contact with a live electricity wire while posing for a TikTok video near the Matlaudha railway station here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday evening when Vikas, a resident of Dharamgarh village, climbed a pole over which the wire was passing and posed for the video, police said.

His three friends were standing below when the accident took place.

Vikas came in contact with the wire carrying 25,000 volts current and was burnt, police said.

Police have sent the body for a post-mortem and started investigation into the matter.
