Ahmedabad, June 30: The city police found the 15-year-old girl reported missing by her parents from Kankaria lake with her recently-made online friend.

According to Vastrapur police, parents of Sapna (name changed), resident of a posh society in Vastrapur and a student of class X, had reported that their daughter had been to tuition classes and did not return.

"We asked for the mobile numbers of Sapna's relatives and friends and on the basis of that we got to know that she had recently befriended a 16-year-old boy through Facebook," said M R Sharma, inspector of Vastrapur police.

With the help of technical surveillance, the officials tracked the duo to Kankaria lake and sent a team to get them.

During their questioning, Sapna told investigators that she was fed up with the excessive studies for the board and had decided to meet the friend to spend some time together.

"We have also asked the parents to understand the problems being faced by children. In most of the cases, it is some petty issues that drive children out of homes," said Sharma.

The house has been damaged completely, and its owner is on the run, he said.
