Bangalore, September 22: Close on the heels of the murder of a habitual offender, a 25-year-old rowdy-sheeter was hacked to death allegedly by his associates in front of a wine store in Ramachandrapura coming under Srirampuram police station limits on Friday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Dileep alias Dileep Kumar, a resident of Srirampuram. Police said that the incident happened around 4.30 p.m. when the north division police were holding a meeting to discuss the progress on investigations into the murder of Manikanta on Thursday evening.

While the Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) H.S. Revanna and ACP S.N. Gangadhar were at the meeting, they received a message about the murder in Srirampuram. Preliminary investigations revealed that Dileep was a rowdy-sheeter in Srirampuram and was with the gang of Bettanagere Shankar for a while.

Police said that he was in the house when his friends, identified as Appu alias Kutti, Gunda and Chinna Kutti, all brothers, came to his house along with another person Prashanth. They reportedly offered to buy him a drink and took him to a nearby bar on Ramachandrapuram Main Road. All four persons allegedly attacked Dileep with machetes after he consumed some alcohol, killing him on the spot.

The body has been shifted to the Victoria Hospital for post-mortem.

Police suspects that some illicit relationship might have been the reason behind the attack.
