Doctor allegedly rapes woman in Pune hospital

Pune, October 21: A doctor in Pune was arrested yesterday on the charges of rape. He allegedly raped the woman, who was known to him, after convincing her to bring her sick father to a hospital in the city.

Dr. Mangesh Gajakosh, 29, was recently appointed as a resident doctor by the state-run Kamgar Hospital in IDC in suburban Mumbai. He met the 22-year-old woman in Pune in 2011 and they both remained in touch through a social networking website. He allegedly called the woman to Rajawadi hospital, where he was doing his internship, on the pretext of helping her father, who is suffering from paralysis.

The woman claims that he raped her several more times after he promised to marry her. Last week, when she asked him about the marriage, he allegedly said he wasn't ready. Following this, the woman lodged a complaint with the local police station.

Dr. Gajakosh has been remanded to custody till October 22.

Guna (MP),  Jun 27: A 20-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly eloping with her minor partner and "marrying" her at Guna town in Madhya Pradesh, police said on Saturday.

The matter came to light, when a resident of Budhe Balaji area approached the Kotwali police station on Monday with a complaint that his 17-year-old daughter had gone missing, additional superintendent of police T S Baghel said.

On investigation, it was found that a relative from a village Shivpuri district, who was living with the family, was also missing, he said.

A team was sent to the village and the duo was caught on Friday, the official said, adding that the woman had married the minor, who claimed that she had eloped of her own volition.

The woman was arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, while the minor was sent back to her family after counselling.

Mumbai, May 10: A 32-year old man, running a bakery here has been arrested for alleged promotion of products using a tagline that said his firm does not employ Muslims, police said on Sunday.

The man, who is also selling his products online had allegedly said "made by Jains on orders, no Muslim staff" for promotion purposes in his WhatApp group.

A complaint was lodged against him saying the words depicted Muslims in a bad light and Mambalam police registered a case and arrested him, a release said adding a probe was on.

Recently, a man was arrested in Mumbai after he allegedly refused to collect groceries he had ordered online since the delivery person was a Muslim.

Thrissur, Jun 11: Volunteers of People for Animal Welfare Services rescued a dog that had its mouth sealed with insulation tape around it for two weeks in Ollur of Thrissur district.

The dog has now been shifted to an animal shelter home.

Recently two elephants died in Kerala. One pregnant elephant died after consuming crackers wrapped in some fruits in Palakkad.

Another elephant died in Malappuram after it was found seriously injured in North Nilambur forest range of the district.
