Actor sends nude photos, arrested

arrestdMumbai, Jan 22: Sanil Sodhi, a 38-year-old small-time actor, was arrested by the Versova police on Monday after a woman complained that he had been harassing her by sending nude photos of himself over the cellphone. Sodhi met the housewife a few months ago at a party. Recently, he started firing the photos to her, which prompted the woman to approach the police on Sunday. The police has learnt that Sodhi, who has been in several TV shows, is the son of a retired IAS officer.

Sodhi has been booked under section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC and section 67 of the Information Technology Act. He is out on bail.

The Versova police arrested a 38-year-old small time actor for allegedly sending his nude photographs to a housewife on her mobile phone. The accused met the victim few months back in a party where he befriended her. The actor Sanil Sodhi had sent his multiple nude photographs through his BBM services. The police learnt that his father is a retired IAS officer from Madhya Pradesh cadre.

The police said the accused started to sent the photographs since recently and the victim approached the police on Sunday and file the case. The police registered the case under Indian Penal Code section 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC and section 67 of the Information Technology Act. The police arrested Sodhi in the case on early Monday and produced him before the court. He was released on bail. Sodhi had acted in several television shows and films.

Muzaffarnagar, Jun 11: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly using plastic scrap to make jaggery at Bhokaheri village under Bhopa police station here, as official said on Thursday.

 Police raided a jaggery manufacturing unite (kolhu) and arrested three persons on Wednesday, SHO, Bhopa police station Sanjive Kumar said.

Police have registered a case against five persons including the trio that was arrested while two of them managed to escape, he said, adding that two loaded tractor trollies of plastic scrap have been seized.

Thane, Apr 24: A 34-year-old man was allegedly attacked on suspicion of being a COVID-19 patient and died after falling into a gutter during the assault in Kalyan town of Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Friday.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning, when Ganesh Gupta had stepped out of his home to purchase some essentials amid the COVID-19 lockdown, an official said.

On noticing some policemen manning the street, the victim took an alternate route, where a few passersby assaulted him after he coughed while walking, he said.

The men suspected him of being a COVID-19 patient and attacked him, causing him to fall into a gutter and die, the official said.

The deceased's body was sent for post-mortem and a case of accidental death has been registered as of now, the station house officer of the Khadakpada police station said.

Six migrant workers have been killed and five others seriously injured when a speeding bus ran over them on the Delhi-Saharanpur Highway near in Muzaffarnagar, officials said on Thursday.

The accused driver, who was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, has been arrested, said SSP Abhishek Yadav.

The workers were going on foot to their homes in Bihar from Haryana when they were hit on the Delhi-Saharanpur Highway between Ghalili Check Post and Rohana Toll Plaza, about 20 km from here late last night, the official said.

The injured -- Sushil, Nathu Saini, Pawan Saini, Pramod and Ramji Rai --were rushed to hospital.

Two of the deceased were identified as Bijender, 25, and Harsh, 20. The rest were yet to be identified.
