Jashpur, Feb 16: In a brazen incident, a girl of 19-years-old kidnapped her boyfriend at Kunkuri with the help of four youths on the eve of Valentine's Day. All the four youths and the girl have been arrested by the police on Friday morning.

The girl identified as Ajita Uraon belongs to Jharkhand and is working for a computer centre at Kunkuri. Police said that Ajita had conspired to kidnap Pankaj Agrawal, 22, who is a son of a rich businessman and former president, Nagar Panchayat, having an affluent financial background. Accused Ajita initiated friendship as a phone-friend and talked for hours over the phone with Pankaj which soon turned into love.

Talking to TOI over telephone, inspector in charge, J R Sahare, Kunkuri, said that on February 11 Ajita had called him for a meet for the first time, but as Pankaj came along with his friends to meet her, Ajita didn't turn up before him and later made an excuse. Police said that Ajita had her companions deployed at the venue to check if Pankaj comes alone.

On the eve of Valentine's Day, Ajita persuaded Pankaj to meet her again at Jinabahar area, an isolated place two kilometres away from Kunkuri. Even though Pankaj's friends suspected something was wrong and tried convincing him not to go alone, he went to meet her alone.

The girl with the help of her companions covered Pankaj's eyes with a black scarf and kidnapped him. He was kept in a dense forest near Bene dam. Till 10.30 pm, when Pankaj didn't return home, his father Murarilal Agrawal who runs a business of electronic goods, reported a case of missing at Kunkuri police station, but as they started receiving ransom calls on February 14 with threatening to kill Pankaj, police registered a case of kidnap against the accused.

When police traced the number, it belonged to the girl and they found that she used to talk on roaming from a number registered in Gujarat. Police was then sure about girl's involvement in the kidnap.

Meanwhile, the kidnappers who had demanded Rs 60 lakh as ransom money, started bargaining with Pankaj's family. Finally the deal was finalised at Rs 10 lakh and they asked to bring the money near Bene dam which comes under the jurisdiction of Narayanpur police station.

Following a plan, Murarilal reached the spot with police in the hide. As soon as the accused approached Murarilal, police nabbed three accused with the girl while the fourth accused was nabbed later in the evening.

Sahare said that the accused have confessed the crime. A case under Section 365 and 387 of IPC has been registered against the accused.
