Student_commitsBhopal, Aug 8: Perturbed over ragging by senior students a second year bachelor of pharmacy (B Pharm) student of a private college, allegedly committed suicide at her house in Kamla Nagar on Tuesday evening.

The police have recovered a four-page handwritten suicide note and deceased's mobile phone from spot. In the first two pages of the suicide note, the deceased stated about torture by senior girl students of RKDF College where she studied while the second half of suicide note was dedicated to her family members.
The deceased had started the note by stating that she was harassed by seniors, particularly four girl students for over a year. When they continued to torture her even after she reached II year she was not left with any option but to end her life, the suicide note said.
Anita has named other students, including her classmates, who were aware about the treatment being meted to her. Though she did not explain the exact incident that led her to take the extreme step, she mentioned that she was asked to do something objectionable, besides being asked to dance, sing and was repeatedly humiliated in front of other college students.
She alleged that boyfriends of the girl students, who tortured her, were also harassing her and she had refused to share her mobile number with them.
Anita, a resident of Jeevan Vihar near PNT Square, lived with her mother, two elder sisters, niece and brother here while her father Kamlesh Sharma, a liasoning officer with a private firm, works in Mumbai.

The deceased, youngest in the family, had returned home in the afternoon and told her bother Hemant, an engineering student, that she was being tortured by her seniors in college. Hemant advised her to talk about it with their father so that he could take up the matter with the college authorities.
Police said Anita's mother, Nirmala and sister Priyanka, a B Com student were in Jaipur to submit a form in Priyanka's college, while her eldest sister, Sarita had gone out for work when Anita committed suicide.
After the conversation, Hemant left for market in the evening and Anita was at home with her niece Shruti, a minor girl. She apparently told Shruti not come to her room and allegedly hanged herself. Her body was noticed when Sarita returned home at 8 pm. Police and her parents were informed.
The post-mortem was conducted on Wednesday after her mother and sister returned from Jaipur and father, who was in Jabalpur in connection with some work, reached home.
In her suicide note to the family, the deceased wrote to her parents that she loved them and asked her brother to make it big in life. Anita, whose birthday was to fall on August 15, also requested her parents to perform her last rites in a pink dress.

Ahmadabad, July 17: The Gujarat high court has ordered the Bharuch superintendent of police to investigate and produce a 14-year-old girl before the court, who has allegedly eloped with a man. Ironically, the man was convicted two years ago on Pocso charges for eloping with another minor girl in 2016.

The high court has asked the government to file an application for bail cancellation of the convict because he has indulged in a similar offence after having come out on bail.

The case involved one Dilip Padhiyar (24) from Uchchhad village in Jambusar taluka of Bharuch district.

He was punished with 10 years in jail in December 2018 by a special court for kidnapping a 16-year-old girl in 2016. He was prosecuted under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and for rape and kidnapping charges. He got away with a 10-year-imprisonment because the girl was over 16 years and she had not alleged rape. However, Dilip Padhiyar was held guilty of statutory rape, abduction as well as under provisions of Pocso Act.

Dinesh Padhiyar got regular bail from the high court pending his appeal challenging his conviction in January 2019. In November 2019, he eloped with another minor girl.

Her father approached the high court complaining that though an FIR was registered with Vedach police station, the police have not made any effort to trace his minor girl. It was also contended in the habeas corpus petition that Padhiyar is a habitual offender.

Petitioner's advocate Imtiyaz Kureshi said that looking at the past of Dinesh Padhiyar, the high court asked the state government to initiate proceedings for cancellation of his bail.

The bench headed by Justice Sonia Gokani instructed HC's registry to treat the bail cancellation application as an urgent matter.

The high court has ordered Bharuch SP to produce the girl before the court by July 20, and in case she cannot be traced by then, he will have to submit an action taken report.

Noida, Jul 28: A doctor admitted at a private hospital in Noida has been accused of sexually harassing a patient in his isolation ward, where both were undergoing treatment for COVID-19, the police said.

The 20-year-old woman, in her complaint to the police, alleged that the incident took place on Monday and based on that a case was filed at the local expressway police station, they said.

A senior police official said an investigation is underway and there might be lapses on part of the hospital which allegedly admitted a man and a woman in the same isolation ward, in violation of the norms.

The woman and the doctor had tested positive for coronavirus last week, according to officials.

"The woman was in the isolation ward of the private hospital. There was a man, a medical practitioner, who too was infected with coronavirus and was sharing the ward with her," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida, Ranvijay Singh said.

He said the woman alleged molestation and upon being informed, the police immediately lodged a case and initiated a probe into the matter.

"There appears to be some irresponsibility on part of the hospital too. We are communication with the medical departments to check whether the patients were being kept in accordance with the guidelines," Mr Singh said.

He said the accused is still in isolation but the police will reach out for his statement following due protocols of COVID-19.

"All necessary action will be taken as per the truth that will emerge after a thorough investigation," Mr Singh said.
