strangledBijapur, Nov 17: The police arrested a person who has been accused of killing his father after allegedly being denied money to purchase a car. The police arrested Ajeeth Biradar on the charges of killing his father Shivangouda Biradar, an advocate residing at Raghavendra colony here.

The police said the accused Ajeeth was pestering his father for money ostensibly to buy a car, but his father refused. Frustrated by the constant refusals, he decided to kill his father.

According to the police, the motive behind the murder was not buying car, but to extract money to pay off his loans taken for gambling. The police said the accused Ajeeth had lost a large sum in gambling. He had borrowed a lot of money from private moneylenders, who were demanding repayment. The son who had no other way to pay money, asked the father to lend some money to buy car.

The father, who was aware of his son’s gambling habit, refused to heed. Following this, the son decided to eliminate the father hoping that after his death, he will be the owner of the property, police sources said.

The police said Mr. Biradar’s family had filed a complaint with Gol Gumbaz police station on October 10, where they said the deceased was missing since October 8.

The police first began collecting the call details of the deceased and his close relatives. During investigation, the police found that the mobile phones of the deceased and his son went off near Hungund town. This ‘coincidence’ evoked curiosity among the police that decided to interrogate some close friends of Ajeeth.

“During interrogation, one of the four accused who is also a friend of Ajeeth, confessed of being involved in the murder, but said the main accused and primary conspirator was Ajeeth,” the police said.

The police said the son convinced Mr. Biradar that a friend was selling a car at a cheap price. The father accompanied Ajeeth and his friends for a test drive. Here the accused strangled his father and dumped his body in Almatti dam backwaters.
