Mangaluru, Oct 27: Rain due to 'Cyclone Kyarr' in the Arabian Sea continued to lash parts of north Karnataka and the coastal districts including Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada against IMD prediction of cyclone moving towards Oman and has thus dumpened celebration of traditional Festival of Lights--Deepavali.
Much contradicting to its previous predictions, IMD on late Saturday evening predicted that the 'Cyclone Kyarr' will intensify into 'Extremely Cyclonic Storm' over the next few hours.
MeT Department Director in Karnataka Srinivas Reddy said that moderate to heavy rain will continue in many parts of coastal Karnataka and very heavy rainfall in isolated places. The rain is expected to continue on Sunday also.
