Dakshina kannada receives excess rainfall

Mangaluru, Jul 6: The coastal district of Dakshina Kannada has received excess rainfall than the normal in June this year.

Kumar, additional deputy commissioner, said during a meeting with officials here that as against the normal average rainfall of 942 mm, the district has received 944 mm rainfall in June.

The disrict and the coastal belt has been witnessing heavy downpour for the past few days.

The district has received 124.4 cms of rains from January to July this year as against the 109.8 cms recorded last year during the same period, he added.

Davanagere, Jan 16: Congress leader D K Shivakumar on Thursday turned down all the recent media reports of him aspiring for the coveted Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committe (KPCC) president post.

Terming all the news, doing rounds, as baseless, Shivakumar said that he never made any attempt to become KPCC president. "All I want to do is work for my people and party", he asserted.

Referring to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa's visit to Harihar's 'Our Lady of Health Minor Basilica' programme, Shivakumar said."I'm not concerned about what others are doing, everyone is free to take part in the programmes."

Mangaluru, Jun 15: The case of two elderly Dubai returnees who are being treated for Covid-19 at the Wenlock Covid-19 Hospital has left doctors perplexed.

The two aged 76 and 81 men had arrived from Dubai on May 18 and 12 respectively and are at the hospital since one month. 

To everyone's surprise, six of their tests have come out positive though they have not shown any symptoms of SARS-CoV-2.

Bengaluru, Jan 7: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths held an international bookie in connection with the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) betting scam and spot-fixing racket, police said on Tuesday.

The bookie was identified as Jitin Sait (32), a native of Sonipat in Haryana.

'We had obtained and issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Sait, and on Sunday, he was caught after he landed at the Kempegowda International Airport from the Netherlands.
