Dammam: DKSC’s ‘Mulaqat’ brings expat families from coastal Karnataka under one roof

Dammam: Dakshina Karnataka Sunni Centre (DKSC), the gulf based organization which runs the Markaz Tha’aleemul Ihsan at Mulur in Udupi district organized a get-together recently in Dammam.

DKSC annual ‘ Mulaqath’ is an event for Mangalorean as well as south Karnataka families and youth in the gulf nation to refresh their community bonds. Like every year, this year too large number of Mangaloreans gathered at Al-Zana Istirah in Dammam to show solidarity with the huge educational efforts which includes the newly envisaged women’s college and its hostel building, shariah college etc. carried out by DKSC. More than 1500 – 1800 people gathered with families and made a remarkable witness in this occasion.

DKSC which was formed by a few youth in 1995 in Al- Khobar, Saudi Arabia has now well organized committees at unit level, zonal level and national levels totally managed by central committee spread across the gulf countries. Markaz Tha’aleemul Ihsaan, the educational Institution dreamt by DKSC in 1995 has now grown in to an educational complex of repute with varied Institutions such as English Medium school, shelter for orphans, destitute, Quraan memorization center, residential religious Dawaa college, and as well as general educational facility, nursery education and residential madrasa education under its fold. Thanks to well qualified staff as well as efficient management team, the Markaz with 1400 student force is emerging a sought after educational destination in and around Mulur.

The recently planned Muslim Women’s college and the hostel facility is a feather in cap for Markaz Tha’aleemul Ihsan run under the able leadership of Syed Attakoya Thangal Kumbol. While addressing the audience at the ‘Mulaqat’ the working president of DKSC Mr. Abdul Hameed Aramex outlined the need for separate institutions for girls’ education in our community and the effort by DKSC to have such an Institution at its campus in Mulur as well as at Kemmara in Puttur. He sought the cooperation of everyone in DKSC’s initiation in women’s education.

This year’s gathering is made a remarkable event under the chairmanship of Janab Hatim kuloor. Janab Ashraf Madaka took the lead successfully in organizing the volunteers in different sections as a team leader. Janab Abdul Azeez Athoor, general secretary and Janab Abdul Gafoor Sajipa, treasurer of this event with the support and coordination of other dedicated members has made this gathering a successful occasion. It is also marked the beginning of 20th Anniversary celebration with the concept of many social welfare schemes like 20 poor families mass marriage, distribution of sewing machines, construction of wells in different required areas. DKSC will culminate in a grand function planned in the month of December 2016.

The duff program Taiba by the children of Jubail Madrasa Students under the leadership of ustad Abdul Razzak Faizi was the center of attraction.

The stage program began with the recitation of Quran by Janab Ashraf Naunda and Dua by Usman Saadi Nelyadi. Janab Ismail Kinnya welcomed the gathering

Children in large numbers enjoyed this colorful evening program, with different types of competition and games organized under the leadership of Engineer Abdul Rahman Panaje, Ismail Katipalla, Abdul Hameed Kolnad, Haneef Mudigere, Sameer and their support team.

Specially for ladies, girls and children, it was a day of festival with sumptuous food, plenty of snacks, ice cream etc. Different types of games and competitions were conducted at the ladies’ section under the leadership of Mrs. Hasan Bava Kuppepadav. Dammam Zonal president Janab Sulaiman Soorinje expressed his gratitude while extending vote of thanks for the dedication and hard work of the members. He asked everyone to join hands with DKSC by becoming a member of DKSC.

Tug of war, Kabaddi were the main games for adults and every one enjoyed the food, snacks, ice cream, soft drinks, and sweets.

An entertainment quiz competition was conducted by Mr. Kamarudeen Goodinabali. Teams from BAMA (Bajpe Area minority Association) Al-Haramain Soorinje, Jubail friends, Khobar Friends. Kannangar Friends participated in the event. Al-Haramain of Janab Rafiq K. H, Sulaiman Soorinje won the first place and Bama – Janab Seyyed Bawa & team were runner-up. . Janab Faroq Kanyana ably assisted the Quiz master in conducting the quiz smoothly.

The program was compared by Janab Zainuddin Mukve, Janab Ismail Katipalla, Janab Iqbal Mallur and Engineer Abdul Rahman Panaje.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.
