Dammam: Hundreds participate in Darul-Irshad family gathering

Dammam, Feb 6: The Dammam Unit of Darul-Irshad Educational Centre hosted a family gathering in here on January 30. Braving the biting cold, hundreds of Mangaloreans along with their friends and acquaintances from neighboring districts and states took part in the night long fun fair with much enthusiasm.

The presence of lovely children and women conducting their own programme in a separate enclave of the hall provided additional flavor to the night long function.

Darul-Irshad Educational Centre based in Mani, Dakshina Kannada, has been engaged in imparting religious and general education to destitute among Muslim community for the past 24 years. The promotion committees of this educational center have also been functioning for the past 12 in various cities of Saudi Arabia. Dammam Unit of Darul-Irshad Educational Centre has arranged this family gathering of Mangalorean community to facilitate a forum for sharing brotherhood among Mangalorean community and create awareness on educational and charity works carried out at Darul-Irshad Mani and Mithur.

The function began at 9.00 p.m. with inaugural Qur’an recitation from Ismail Katipalla. Thereafter, Qur’an recitation contest was held for children in two groups, in which children participated with much attention to display their recitation talent. The winners were given a copy of ‘Qur’an’ as prizes.

Two benefactors of Darul-Irshad Institutions, Haamid Saeed Al- Ghamdi and Abu Thalib Al- Hammami, Ahmed Abu Ziyad of Egypt participated in the event and expressed their happiness to know the unity and solidarity among the Mangalorean Muslim community living in Saudi Arabia. One of the main sponsors of the event, Zakariya Muzain was the chief guest at the event. The co-sponsors of the programme Shareef Whitestone, Mahboob Enegria and Abid Gulf Column were also present on the occasion. In addition, representatives from organizations such as DKSC, Jamyiathul Falah (JF), Hidayah Foundation (HF), Manjanady Yatheem Khana, IFF, Goodinabali Welfare Associaiton, Al- Harmain Surinje, Karnere Relief Organizaiton, Al- Ameen Ujire also participated.

The stage programme of the day began after the dinner. Master Adnan Abdul Hameed recited the Qur’an. The traditional ‘Duff’ programme conducted by the students of Imam Navavi Madrasa, Jubail entertained the participants. Shahul Hameed, President of Darul-Irsahd Dammam welcomed the gathering. In his welcome speech, Shahul Hameed, spoke briefly about the educational and charity activities carried out at Darul-Irshad Mani and Mithur. The president thanked all the sponsors and participants who generously contributed to raise fund to meet the expense of boarding education of more than 300 ‘Miskeen’ destitute children of the community at DarulIrshad Mani and Mithur. He also utilized the occasion to remember all the members of DarulIrshad Community in organizing a program of this magnitude.

Later, the sponsors and supporters of the event were honored with memento. The man behind this programme and the man behind the progress of promotional committees across Saudi Arabia, Shahul Hameed was felicitated for his selfless dedicated work by Janab Is’haq Haji and Janab Anwar Hussain, the incumbent president of Darul-Irshad Saudi Arabia and his predecessor.

General Secretary of Dammam Unit of Darul-Irshad Amjad Khan thanked audience as well as everyone who contributed for the success of this function.

Kamarudeen conducted Quiz programme for selected five teams. Teams from DKSC, Al- Haramain Surinje, Karnere Relief Organizaiton, Hidayah Foundation, Sirjul Huda Kaup participated in the event. Al- Harmain Surije and Hidayah Foundation emerged victorious.

Thereafter, daring the biting cold, children participated in the various sports activities conducted under the leadership of Naushad Puttur and enjoyed to the maximum.

The ladies conducted their own programme with various sports and fun activities. Mrs. Kamarudeen conducted the visual quizfor ladies by forming five teams from among the gathered ladies. Ladies were seen immensely enjoying the visual quiz program and various other fun games.

The winners in the various competition were given attractive prizes, Besides, the lucky few got Umra Ticket, Thermos flask, Cookware and dinner set as raffle draw prizes. The luckiest one won the air ticket from Mangalore to Dammam as bumper prize winner sponsored by SUHANA Travels Mangalore.

The ultimate delicacy was the food of the day. The delicious food prepared by ‘Rose Restaurant’ at the gathering was a subject for praise by everyone.

On the whole, the entire evening environment provided a good alternative to otherwise dull indoor life in the winter here in Saudi Arabia.

Doha: Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) once again set an example that no caste, creed, language and religion comes as hurdle for their humanitarian services and helped to perform last rites of Ramesh who committed suicide in Doha-Qatar.

45-year-old Ramesh son of K. Nagan hailing from Panikulam, Thrissur district in Kerala, who was working as a tailor committed suicide in his house at Ruwias in Qatar on 30th May 2020.

On hearing this news, some of his friends in Kearla informed Mr. Shihab who is also from Thrissur and a member of QISF and the same was brought to the notice of QISF humanitarian team head Mr. Abdul Latheef Madikeri and Basheer Ahmed of Tamil Nadu.

Immediately, the QISF team intervened and contacted the family members of the deceased in India and discussed the matter and consequences of sending the body back home to India in this pandemic COVID 19 situation.

Considering the prevailing situation, the family members gave the consent to bury the body in Qatar itself.

QISF team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation.

Finally, the body of the deceased was buried in Qatar on 7th June 2020 and the copies of all the relevant documents have been handed over to the family members.

The family members of the deceased thanked and applauded the leaders and all the members of QISF for their effective and on time humanitarian service rendered even in this pandemic crisis and having no bias.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter distributed Food Kits for Indian expatriates labors who were in trouble due to Corona lockdown on April 6, 2020 at a labor camp here in Al Khobar.

The labors, most of them are from the staes of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh And Uttar Pradesh, were in trouble without food.

 Recieving the information leaders of Indian Social Forum immediately visited the camp to take survey.

Indian Social Forum with the help of donors distributed food kits. Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka Chapter president Mr.Mohammed Shareef Jokatte expressed gratitude for donors for their contribution.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.
